Hi all. Haven't had a chance to read, I will catch up later. I have had an exciting day. I got a call from Dylan saying that his bus was going to a different location and that I had to pick him up there. He usually gets dropped off at the school near my house but... The schools near my house, one elementary and one middle, were evacuated today due to a suspicious package. They called in the bomb squad but I am still not sure what happened. Dylan gets in my van and shows me his finger. It was swollen and turning colors. I took him for x-rays and he has a broken finger. He is in a splint for now but I will take him to the orthopedic on Friday. The clinic doctor thinks he may have fractured the growth plate in the finger. Like I said, interesting day. Here is a link for the schools. To give you a reference, Challenger is the furthest south, Millennium is directly North of Challenger. Next is a small lake and then the development that I live in.

Did he tell you how he broke his finger, Tami? And which finger? The last time I broke a finger it was my middle one. With the finger splinted, I was able to innocently give everyone the bird.

We just had dinner with some old friends.... a former neighbor and his girlfriend. James just turned 82 and looks and acts a lot younger. We got to catch up on a lot of gossip and had a great time. James was one of the best neighbors a person could ever wish to have. I really miss having him around here. He hadn't been planning on selling his farm, but one day, about 2 years after his wife died, he had a visitor. A realtor showed up one day and said that he had a client who really wanted to buy his farm. It was a showplace of nearly 600 acres, with rolling hills, trails, streams and 2 waterfalls. James told him it wasn't for sale. The realtor made him a high offer. James said again that the farm wasn't for sale. The realtor then asked him what figure would be high enough to get him to sell. James said ''One million dollars''. The realtor said ''sold''. So James and his girlfriend Ann ( girlfriend of 6 months at that time) have been using the money since then to travel everywhere they've ever wanted to go. They're both really enjoying life. They have both apologized repeatedly to us, tho'. The people who bought the farm (suspected drug dealers- what other farmer has an armed bodyguard?) are the neighbors from h3ll.

Hello everyone! :D
Haven't been here for a while, so hope you are all well.
Tami, hope Dylan's finger doesn't hurt too badly!
Last week I was raking leaves and the man from across the road came over to give me mail that came to him by mistake. This is something that rarely happens - in fact we've never even spoken to him in 25 years. SO I took the chance to speak to him ... he's a piano teacher, and I wondered if he'd be able to help me with some 'rehab' - so today I went to visit and he said he'd help me! So tomorrow will be my first lesson - and we even have the book I need (yeah, we NEVER throw anything away!) I'm really excited, and quite scared too! But mostly excited ... :D

How wonderful Judy - something I have always to do. Bought a piano 30 years ago for my sons to learn - only one was interested enough to start. He learnt the Death March to play at my funeral - boys!!! Good luck with it - let us know how you get on.

Midge, boys always find a way to shock us! :)
I always wanted to learn the piano - started off with a little Casio keyboard and slowly moved up ... Now I'm starting all over again, but maybe I'll be quicker second time around? We'll see! :)

What a cool thing to happen, Judy. That will be great for your rehab! And fun, too. I hope that you discover a real talent for the piano, as well.

All the phone calls I've had for puppies for the past 2 days have been from people who would have no chance to get one of my babies. They ask the wrong questions. It really won't bother me if I keep these 2 boys. They have great personalities, tho' Spike and Bear are both tough on my pants.

Morning all,
Went back to see when I last posted and can't believe it! I must have dreamed I said all the things I thought I'd said...

Nola, that sounds like a good birthday! Even starting it off working worked out nice. I'm so glad. I hope Paul is doing okay. I bet his stamina is low after the chest infection. Hopefully he will pick up soon.

RIP Lucy...

Theresa, how typical that, now you have your air conditioner installed, temps have returned to normal!

June, Big hugs! We're off to Wollongong this Saturday. Alie's singing lesson has moved to there because her regular teacher is off getting married! I'm bummed your official photographer because that means you won't be in many of the photos. I hope you do get Friday off and nothing comes up between now and then.

Tami, I read the article. Do they know what was in the package yet? Didn't Dylan end up spending a chunk of last summer in plaster too? Hopefully whatever this is will be okay before school is out.

Ouch Heidi, those neighbours sound terrible. It's a shame he didn't say 2 million. They probably still would have bought it, unfortunately, but he'd have twice as much to play with. What are the wrong questions with the puppies?

Judy, what a wondeful idea to learn piano as therapy! Wishing you many enjoyable hours..

I am going to the doc today to get a certificate that will let me join a gym. We'll see if I actually go though.

Still no date for Dana's op. I went over yesterday and helped her undo some Tahli mess. I called first. She was helping at first then said 'do you mind if I sit and write my shopping list'. I told her I was glad she was going to sit.

Greetings friends. thought i would drop in to say 'here I is' fore bed tonight.

I had an early doctors appointment, 8:20 and that back in Montevallo, about 50 minute drive normally. A bit longer today but not bad for rush hour traffic. After I got to freeway, I was going away from town, workers were coming into town, so not a problem.

doc is going to try me on another anti-seizure medication. We discontinued another of them 18 months ago, cause of side effects. Here is hoping this one works as well as the first did at first, with no side effects. No, I do not have seizures, it is being used for pain. He is also scheduling
Several tests, one to see what might cause hands to go to sleep, mamo, and some tests to follow up a little something they saw 2 years ago, just making sure it has not changed.

I did read, but am about to fall asleep here, so I shall be back tomorrow. Perhaps i can comment on posts then.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Evening all,
Midge, I forgot to mention that I told hubby about the death march and he didn't think it was funny...

Doc visit for Alie and I today. Her test results were back - not celiac, not lactose intolerant. Wait until she's 17 and then he'll refer her to a gut specialist (not sure what that one is) otherwise we'd have to take her to Sydney as their isn't one for children in town. Once she's 17 she can see someone in town.

I needed new scripts and a letter saying it was okay for me to go to a gym. He wouldn't give me one! I have to come into the office and meet with nurse types for an individual care plan... not happy Jan.

Just realised that that would make no sense to the topsiders - it's from an ad and the saying 'went viral'

MizT, I miss freeways! What Aussies call freeways are nothing compared to the US ones...

Were your ears burning today? I was talking to a friend about you because she has similar problems with medications. The strongest pain pill she can take is acetaminophen (Tylenol/Panadol). She was surprised and interested to hear about your pain free times in the pool. I wonder if that means she's going to try it?

Suzy, I do hope your friend can try the pool and that it helps her. The pool I use is heated, and warmer than just for swimming, it is called a therapeutic pool. I think they keep the water about 92F, but I can check on that later and let you know. It is meant for people with joint problems, arthritis and such.

there are people who come to the pool, pay for private physical therapist, and all they do is float in the water with flotation devices around neck and under knees. The therapist just moves them about the pool, and makes sure they do not slip under! One man goes to sleep for his hour! I think he is a stroke or brain injury survivor. Some that use this pool are wheelchair bound, use the lift to get into and out of pool, and the physical therapy of floating is for pain relief. Did I say some of these people who come are on the wealthy side?

Pool is also used for range of motion classes for arthritis, and other exercise classes like my Ai chi. I am so lucky to have this available, there are few pools that warm, and usually very small and in hospital physical therapy departments. The Lakeshore Foundation makes this available to the public, along with a cooler pool for aerobic exercises and laps, a complete gym, field-house, and so much more, for minimal fee. If one is low income, they can get a scholarship to pay all or part of the fee. AND it is only 10 minutes away from me!

OH, while I am talking about Lakeshore, they are a training facility for para Olympics, have a great 'wounded warrior' program even with living facilities for returning warriors and family while at Lakeshore It is a wonderful place. A link below if you are interested.

92℉ is not a swimming pool! It's a hot tub! When I was a kid, we had a ''swimming pool'' (15 ft deep and big) that my stepfather kept at 92℉. It was my job to keep it clean of algae. I spent hours underwater with my scuba tank and a scrub brush, since conditions wee ideal for algal growth. Whenever I wanted to swim, though, I'd walk the mile through the woods to Lake Michigan, and go swimming in the delightfully cold water. It NEVER got above 55℉.

WHINE ALERT

Did laundry this morning, went down for veggie man, back down again to pick up my lunch. then I cleaned up and went to meet friends for scrabble, but no one showed, bummer. It was fun scooting around in my chair, zoom zoom.

THEN we had a thunderstorm come through, followed by a cold front. I feel like some giant rolled me into a ball and played a hot and fast game of soccer with me. OUCH. Everything hurts. even my fingers. Just took pain meds, and I am going back to bed till this goes away. ,

It's a good day to stay in bed, MizT.

I heard that storm is moving here. I have 118 rolls of hay that are sitting out in the field and need to be stored inside before they get rained on. I don't think it's gonna happen. I hurt too much today. And the world won't come to an end if the hay loses a little quality.

I finally got some food down so I could take my pain meds. My back was hurting, and I also had pain shooting down both legs. It didn't help me to rest in bed. I still feel nauseous but at least nothing is coming up.

The puppies have just learned a new trick. A BAD trick. They've learned that they can squeeze and slide under the front gate and get out to visit cats and get under people's trucks. I may have to keep them locked up in their pen a LOT more.

Yep, rest up Heidi - everything else can wait - except keeping those naughty puppies out of mischief so they don't hurt themselves!
Judy - enjoy relearning the piano. I learnt as a child (for 3 years or so) but have hardly touched a keyboard since. My sister has kept it up, owns a piano and still plays for her own enjoyment.

I have had several boxes put away in a closet in my spare room since we cleared out Mum & Dad's house 8 years ago. Like a fool I decided this was the week that I would sort through it all. I have had a roller coaster ride of emotion going through their things, especially finding those unexpected little thing like a drawing of Santa that I looked at, thinking it was one of the grandchildren's, while also remembering doing something like that as a child myself. I looked at the name on it - yep, my name - probably when I was 6 or 7. I never realised she'd kept that all these years. There were wartime letters from her brothers and friends from Egypt and New Guinea etc - none from Dad, maybe they were too racy and had to be destroyed (hehehe). Birthday cards from us when we were kids as well as hand made cards and letters from their grandchildren. Historical newspapers and clippings.
An emotional few days but well worth it!

MizT, I hope the storm has passed and when you wake up you are feeling a lot better.

Heidi, grrr puppies. grrr upset tummy.

Something that will hopefully make you smile. Alie's school are putting together one song for mad week (was going to be a whole cabaret but there weren't enough teacher hours to make it work out). They are still going to do the one they have already sorted though. The Cell Block Tango. Alie is Cicero.

Slept through the morning. I have puppy's brekkie softening (I feed them dry puppy food, softened in hot water, with a can of puppy food mixed in for flavor). Then I HAVE to mow the lawn. It's getting long enough that I have problems seeing dog toys. I was going to do it yesterday, but I felt too sick. I'm mostly better today.

Suzy... That is a FANTASTIC number! All they really need to do is wear more realistic prison garb. I like the strong women theme instead of something from a male dominated society. It'll leave all the guys there with the feeling that they should respect women..... or else. I can see why your hubby was uncomfortable. He wouldn't feel that way if it was men being domineering. The costumes will not be translated to high school.

I'm glad I started mowing when I did. The sky opened up to a downpour just as I finished the lawn. I didn't get the lawn done around IH's office, though. But the place looks great here for puppy buyers.

While doing the mowing, I discovered that the cherries on my cherry trees are ripe. Obviously, every time I swung past them, I wound up with handfuls of juicy red cherries. The instant the rain stops, I'm going out there with a ladder and a basket. They are SOOOOOOOO good!!! BTW... these are young trees, and this is their first crop.

Heidi, congrats on the crop of cherries. Enjoy every one of them, you deserve it. I imagine the lawn around the cherry trees really is neatly cut, what with the extra trips past for another handful

BAD puppies! Hopefully it will not take long for them to grow to large to wiggle under. How long till some of them go to new owners? Isn't it about 10 days?

I did wake this morning feeling better, thank you, and started on my new meds. I have 2 of them new, only starting one at a time. I have been on a roller coaster of emotions, drug induced, today. Be glad when the 6 days are over, but it has helped the pain levels. The other one is really a strong medication, used for some really
serious things. It is a good thing I read a post from my nephew just the other day, about how WebMD is the site that can turn a common cold into a life threatening illness, hehehe. They do list every thing that has gone wrong with every patient who has taken or even abused the medication. I have to remember that, but many of the side effects are as bad as what it is supposed to treat!!

Cyn, how wonderful you found such treasures in the boxes you sorted through. I can understand the emotions connected with finding, reading them. Did you clear all the boxes? Or have to take a break for a while fore tackling the others?

Suzi, I am assuming you are asking Tami about the path of the tropical storm Andrea? I just saw there are/were many spin off tornadoes, but if I remember correctly, the storm is up the coast and on the gulf side, crossing across the state near the Georgia border, so the eye is away from Tami. The bands could be bringing rain and wind for her.

OK, enough rambling for today, hugs to each of you, with extras. till later.
