Got another question for you guys. When you sign in are you notified of any new messages on your page? I'm not getting the note anymore.

I noticed last week that I didn't get the popup message anymore saying that there was a new message. I still get the email though.

The 'others' have been discussing opening a new chat room. There are issues about membership and abusive posts. I don't care what they do. I'm happy now.

Did you see the discussion on the Debate page? It's getting a lot of input.

Why does someone want to start a new chatroom? The other one doesn't seem to get that much use.

Guess we're all thinking the same thing. I thought you had to be a member to be able to sign in.

So you saw it Ruby. I'm happy here. I've only been in the chatroom once and it gave me a headache. I like chatting slooowly. Most of the time, we post and come back later to see the next installment.

Last week I went into the archives and someone has been a busy bee on the posts.

I think it was the debate page. If you are not a registered user, you can't chat. They seemed to think that registered users e-mail addresses are sold to marketers and they don't want that.

I think the appeal of the chatroom is that the discussion is erased. Noone else can come later to see what they were talking about. In a way, it makes you less accountable for what you say and more open to say whatever you want. At least, that's the only thing I can figure.

I know someone outside this site has gotten mine. But, then it could be MSN doing it. All providers do it.

Unregisters can't chat, and apparently some registers want to chat with them.

Here, we can go away for a while and come back and catch up on what has been going on if we want to.

We could ask Gath if he sells our email address. I thought he said he didn't, but I didn't pay that close of attention.

I've been in the chatroom about 5 or 6 times. Twice it was to exchange e-mail addresses. Gath can save and read the posts. All he has to do is check who typed what and when.

Why can't the registered users chat with the unregistered users on their own pages. They can always delete comments they don't want others to see later.

Just remembered. A few months ago someone posted that they were in the chatroom and another member told them that they hated her. I checked the list and both are members, though they live in different countries.

The unregistered users are allowed on all the pages of the site, including here. They just can't use the chatroom. I don't see the big deal.

Why don't you go to forum and make that suggestion.

That person probably wouldn't have said that if they chatted on a page like this.

How can you hate someone in this venue?

MSN and Yahoo provide free IM services. They could use them, unless they are at work.

Whoo Becky, it is getting interesting I too find the chat room too quick.

I don't know how you could hate someone here, but I have gotten cold vibes from people after I have suggested they chat on this page.

Though with my typing speed (or lack of it) heaps of posts go by in between!

There's always someone who wants to cause problems or make another feel bad. Could never understand that. I have a feeling that a banned user has come back under aliases so as not to be 'traced.'

No matter how permanent the medium, I'm not going to say something I won't stand by.

Every computer has a unique registry number. I don't know if Gath captures it or not. Many sites do.

He does. That's how he has banned 1 user and the poster from last week. Hubby used to track users when he ran his site.
