Weigh in report for week 12. I lost 5 pounds this week for a total loss of 24 pounds since the first of the year. It was quite a surprise to see such a loss because I was pretty good about my eating, but not overly strict and had to skip my exercises the last three days of the week because my back was hurting. Go figure. rosemary, I hope this is the kind of start you were looking for.

Angie, I also want to wish you a good outlook. It is so hard to keep your health on track when things aren't going well. You're doing the best you can and nobody can ask more. I wish you better things in the near future (including a new computer).

rosemary, you must be on that plateau I just managed to get off of. For me, trying harder isn't as effective as just being patient and sticking with it. You are going generally in the right direction. Just keep it up and don't get down on yourself.

ok I have now lost 15 lbs!I looked back on the amount I had wanted to lose and it's 18lbs,I have been watching my diet pretty close(South Beach)
its been 11 weeks and I'm feeling really good ,if I lose more fine if not I'm still eating the same ,I want to keep it off ,losing it is the easy part.
Its funny how people want you to eat the food your trying to avoid,Carly said 'I want some cake when are you going off this diet!' So I bought a small personal size cake for him and had a taste,it was good but not that good.He also added your almost at the weight you want so its time to quit!I said no to keep it off I have to change my lifestyle for good. to us all!

Rosemary and GannieMo, make room for me on that plateau.....another week gone by and nothing lost, but I really can't complain...I've had such a hectic time this past week with travel, and having work done at home, and preparing for more travel and trying to fit a million things into a space meant for a half million. With all of that going on, I have not been to the gym in several weeks, but have done a little walking, but not nearly enough to balance some of the indulging I've done! Weight's gotta go and Keith, I'm with you... sticking it out and being patient and doing some regular exercises. I'm so impressed with you Keith and Nancy....fantastic effort, for those of us who are lagging a bit....we'll find our way out of this tunnel we're in and start the scales downward once again...I'm sure of it. I have a bout two months to lose 6 or 7 lbs to reach my first goal weight...but like Nancy, I'm not too unhappy where I am weight wise, but I don't want to regain any that has been lost. Cheers all... to continued effort!

Well, I missed my weigh in last week. I have just weighed myself and I am 70kg. No exercise as yet as I have to have a stress test on Monday on a treadmill hooked up to monitors. I think the weight loss is due to a very fast beating heart brought on by stress...

I had one a couple of months ago, I failed the test but passed with flying colours.
It just means I was really unfit and couldnt get oxygen into my lungs when they sped it up and put it on the incline.
think I would do better at it now though after all my walking and riding.
good luck, hope it all goes well.

if you know something in your life is stressful, then change it.
life is way too short to make yourself sick because of stress. seek out a quieter life, cut the stressful bit out from your life.

Weigh in report for week 13. I lost 2 pounds this week for a total loss of 26 pounds since Jan. 1. My back was still giving me trouble most of the week, so my exercising wasn't as strenuous as normal. I can't complain about my progress, considering that. A new before picture on my page.

Nice job, rosemary. We seem to be both making good steady progress, which everybody says is the right way to do it.

Hi Everyone. Just a quick update for my weigh in before I get on the big bird. I'm still riding the safe plateau, and I hope it stays that way while I'm gone...then I can try to get back to working to lower it again. Hang in there one and all...changes are gonna come. Deb and others who haven't been up to par...hope you too are improving! Take care of yourselves folks.

Hi all, I'm still here....kinda. My computer is still running, barely, I just try not to make it do much. As a new one costs as much as my house payment, I'm not really confidant that I'll be getting one any time soon. Using a friends today, so that I could update you all.

GMo---- Awww honey, you're a loser in my book :) HUG!

Rosemary -- Won't get to my email replies anytime soon, but got yours. Thank you so much for the encouraging words. :) I am very well prepared, if you know what I mean.

Everyone else, make room on that plateau for one more. I've been 'plateauing' for nearly 2 months now. While my weight hasn't gone down, I am seeing improvement in the way my clothes fit and my energy level is increased. While it is spring here, there is new snow on the ground this morning. I am patiently waiting for summer so that I can get on my pedal bike often and run around the yard with my kids. I always have much better luck losing inches in the summer because almost everything I do in the summer is 'people powered'.

Remember that a plateau can mean many different things. It could mean that your body has now leveled off on the amount of calories it is burning through exercise versus the amount of calories you are eating. It can also mean that you are building more muscle mass and muscle weighs more than fat, so as you lose the fat and gain the muscle, sometimes the weight is the same. Remember, though, that muscle burns calories much faster and more effiecently than anything else. So don't forget to do some weight bearing activities in addition to your cardio workouts.

Take care, I care,
Ang

Just over a week since my last weigh in. Another kilo gone! 69kg now (152lb)and that is what I wanted to be, anything under 70kg. Haven't been on the treadmill or exercise bike so I guess stress is still playing a big part. All of my tests came back saying I am in good health so I am going to start my exercise regimen again this week.

Weigh in report for week 14: I lost 2 pounds this week for a total weight loss of 28 pounds since the first of the year. I was able to order smart in the restaurants and keep up my exercises while we were gone most of the week, and am very happy with a 2 pounds a week average.

So pleased to read the good news from rosemary, ap, Deb, and happy to see GannieMo, Mamacita and Angie sticking with it and patiently (or not so patiently) waiting out the plateau. We're all in this for the long haul, one step at a time.

Keith,
Two lbs. a week is perfect for keeping the weigh off. Those of you who strenght train keep in mind muscle weighs more than fat. Often the mirrow is more accurate than the scale. Keep up the hard work it will not kill you. You probably will live longer and healthier.

Hi All, Week 14 has found me just 1/2 lb heavier than before my trip. Not too bad considering that I have not done any real exercises for three weeks, and my walking has been sporatic at best. Good news still abounds however....my walking buddy, Jazz has lost over 5 lbs and is looking so slim and cute. I'm proud of both of us. Not feeling too great right now, I hope to get back to the gym on a regular basis starting Monday. This week I will be celebrating my 51st anniversary and expect to eat, drink and be merry with caution. I am sending out a big cheer for all of you and your hard work. Here's to one and all....great job!!

I seem to have found long term accommadation on this plateau so have restarted from day one on the food régime. I am fitter, definitely slimmer and to cheer me on my way I have decided to no longer be completely grey haired and have an appointment at the hairdresser tomorrow(friday). Not an all over colour but a few low lights. I have been giving myself 'firming' face masks and have made sure that I don't even walk the dog without giving nature a little help in the face department.
I have thrown out some really shapeless pants and tops and had a declutter session (or two) in my clothes closet.
I am still walking and am on target to notch up my one millionth step by the end of the month.
Well done to all you 'losers' and to Keith and Mamacita for being so good on holiday .

Here's a joke for those on the weight loss program. Keep up the good work everyone, you are all doing well and getting thiner by the week.

Bless the Irish - doctor's diet

MALONEY was terribly overweight, so his doctor put him on a diet.'I want you to eat regularly for 2 days, then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for 2 weeks. The next time I see you, you should have lost at least 5 pounds.'
When the Irishman returned, he shocked the doctor by having lost nearly 60 POUNDS!
'Why, that's amazing!' the doctor said, 'Did you follow my instructions?'
The Irishman nodded...'I'll tell you though, by jaesuz, I thought I were going to drop dead dat 3rd day.'
'From hunger, you mean?'
'No, from de bloody skippin'!!!!!'

Weigh in report for week 15, I lost 2 pounds this week for a total weight loss of 30 pounds since the first of the year. As usual, I did some backsliding early in the week, and then made up for it at the end. It is becoming harder by the week to stick with it. The ''long term'' part of this is being a lot harder than I expected. I'm starting to feel a greater need for group support, and must give back in kind. We must not waver, plateau or no, but stick with the plan.

Hey Rosemary I've been on this plateau far too long and the view is getting boring.
Spent most of today at the vet. clinic, Houpette very poorly. I only had a couple of hours sleep last night with her being sick. She has been very lethargic and is nil by mouth except for water for next 24 hours then only chicken and rice. I suppose I've got to accept her being unwell aged 15 but I feel so helpless.
I ate all the wrong things tonight as I didn't feel like cooking. Hopefully she will bounce back tomorrow.

Well I've moved from the plateau, but I don't want any company where I am. I seemed to have found those 2 lbs that Keith lost and I really wasn't trying to find them! I guess being married for lo these many years doubled the cost of celebrating in weight gained. I think that as much as I love my hubby...I'm just going to have to do something drastic and I'm not sure what it is right now. Is it going to be giving up the food that I love or the man that I love.....oh my...such a quandry......maybe I just have to stop celebrating?????? Horrors!!!!What to do...what to doooooooooooo? And with a birthday coming next month tooooooooooooooooooo?

My membership has run out :(

Anyway, weighed myself this morning and I have lost another 500g so am now 68.5kg. I never did start on the exercise regime again so not quite sure why the weight is still dropping. I'm happy about it, but have to say, slightly confused.

You are obviously loosing the weight I should be losing, Deb.
For all those who kindly wrote to me re Houpette, she is a little better but 500 metres is still as much as she can manage and very small meals of chicken, maybe I should join her on the chicken and rice!!!!!
