We can't fix the trailer latch here. I'm gonna have to take the trailer to the dealership tomorrow and leave for Florida from there. I am not happy. There's jut one delay after another.

Hi all. Just back from Target and about to start dinner. When hubby lost job he tried to find something in a more stable area. He has been working in call centers for the last several years but they are not stable. He has an awesome phone voice. He applied to a call center and several people he used to work with, work there. The owner was impressed with hubby. Salary is not the best but they will discuss again after 90 days when probation period is over. It works in hubby's favor that he does not need benefits. He is covered by me, through the school board. I will not give that up even though it is expensive. With all the accidents my boys have, good insurance is priceless.

Now the AC in the house has broken. We're still having a heat wave, so it's nasty in the house. IH doesn't want to deal with it while I'm gone, so he's just going to suffer and let me deal with it when I get back. I am NOT enjoying August,

Yes, Tami.... good health insurance is worth more than you pay for it. Too bad everybody can't have the same health benefits that Congress gets.

Heidi, I do not feel the least sorry for Gil in the house in August weather while you are gone. He can be such a baby. I started to add 'sometimes' to the last sentence, but no, it is all the time.

I have roused myself and gone to laundry room. I did one load. I had another but one at a time is about my speed today.

While clothes were washing, I sat in the sunroom/elevator lobby. When I moved my chair ro go put clothes into dryer, there was light orange liquid under my chair. Now, I had peach tea in a water bottle, did not think it was that color, but fearing someone would slip in it, I went downstairs for paper towels. I soaked up the mess and took towels to trash can. There were little drips everywhere I had been! Huumm, guess those towels were so soaked they dripped on way to trash. I finished my laundry and came down, there was a spot in elevator, and on floor in second floor sunroom. I looked in my bag on back of the chair, and yes, a puddle of the tea was there. I used a clean washcloth and got that dried out. When I got in room, I cleaned out the small zip compartment on my 'caboose', the part where I thought my peach tea had dripped into that compartment. It was hanging just over it. You will never guess what I found the compartment. A can of orange soda, with a long split in the side!! That is what I had been dripping all over two floors! I had backed up to wall on third floor, and evidently it caught that can of soda just right, and split it, and it started dripping while I sat and read. I am talking a BIG puddle, took 12 paper towels to soak it up. Mystery solved. I got more paper towels and drove slowly every place I had been, one foot scooting paper towel along the floor. I hope I got all the little drops, what a mess. Now I must wash out that compartment. At least it was a diet soda, not nearly as sticky as regular. Messy Tricia!!!

Tami, I do hope this job for hubby is more stable than others in the past. A good phone voice is a plus, I am sure.

OK, since my brunch was early for a lunch, I am ready to eat again. I have a couple of cocoanut shrimp left over from yesterday, a couple of bites of chicken from lunch on Friday, some more of the mac and cheese, marinated veggies, it is time to clean out fridge. I think it will make a very good dinner for me tonight.

Hugs again, with extras. Take as many as you want or need.

The owner of the hyper little dog, Sassy, will be here in an hour to pick her up. I had to call him and put my foot down. I don't like being taken advantage of. We have not enjoyed Sassy's visit. I couldn't housebreak her completely, and I don't enjoy hyper dogs.

2 attempt..
Hi everyone,
Lost a post so will try again. I've been pretty busy this weekend...a tad unusual for me to be on the go as much as I have...especially when I wasn't really in top shape...but hey, must strike while the iron is hot...we only come this way once...or so I'm told.
Most of my sick family members have returned to their respective homes and are recuperating well. My young cousin's results are still unknown, but keeping fingers crossed that this was the last surgery he'll need for many years...he's such a trooper and has been quite patient so we're keeping everything crossed hoping for good news...he deserves some.
My great niece had a fabulous 3rd birthday party and her great grandmother (my sister) was able to be there to help celebrate. My sister was trying so hard to be able to be there since she and her daughter (my niece that died earlier this year) had planned the whole thing. It was really nice and there were as many or more adults than kids having a ball. The kids had a blast too...all kinds of outdoor games to bounce on,swing on and climb on were there...luckily my niece has a very large yard that can accommodate lots of stuff as well as people...had to be close to 70 folk there while I was there.I'm still having more pain than I like, but it's not stopping me from getting or doing things..just means I'm taking more pain meds than I'd like.Today I went to a casino and tried my hand at the slots for just a bit , w/o any luck, but had a great time since one of my group kids' ( friends of my kids who I call mine too) daughter was performing there. I had never seen her perform and since this was fairly close to my home...only 1/2 hour's drive, I was able to go. She was simply great and had every one on the dance floor. I was so glad to be a part of this since I had been invited to so many and never got to them.
Before going out this afternoon, I spent the day in the kitchen cooking...something that I don't often do and made a banana pudding...it was yummy and after Tricia and Rolanda were so busy talking lemon meringue pie, I was glad to have it to enjoy.
Heidi...hope that things settle down for you and you are able to have the RV latch fixed in short order and have an uneventful trip...I also hope the heat drives Gil into action where he'll pick up the phone and have someone come to repair the ac unit or buy another , but I won't hold my breath.... To all that are unmentioned, know that its not because I didn't think of or about you...just know its because I'm tired of hunting and pecking on this machine,...but also know that I keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and wish nothing but good for all...Peace. Via Con Dios.

Yes, it is Evening, not Night! I made it here by 10:30 tonight. Hi, Everyone!

Cyn, your B and SIL are really covering a lot of ground if they're going to Seattle AND Prince Edward Island, opposite sides of the continent. BTW, I think there's a Boeing 'museum' of sorts near SEA-TAC (Seattle-Tacome) Airport. I hope they get to see everything on their agenda!

Cyn, will keep fingers crossed that the final test confirms that all is good with Col's heart!

Heidi, I'm so sorry your travel plans had to be adjusted for a screw. Is that what they mean in the saying, 'You're screwed'?

Hmmmm, I wonder if that will put me in the naughty corner?

MizT, I'm glad you are getting caught up on sleep! That's probably something that should be on my agenda. You are indeed very devious, but how nice that you could truly surprise Joy with her 'bed in a bag' gift!

I'm going to post before going to page 25 to read. See you there!

Heidi, I hope you can think of all the dead ends, changed plans and un-met expectations regarding the return trip to Florida as a comedy of errors. I know you will be pleased to get your horse back home and have this trip behind you! Crossing fingers that the latch can be easily and quickly fixed tomorrow morning. I would certainly hope that the necessary screw is an in-stock item at the dealership!

I can't imagine that Gil will enjoy the high temperatures predicted for your area without AC. Is he really too uncomfortable calling service people (or lazy) to make the call - or is he worried that he will need to pay for any repairs, of even a replacement? Fingers crossed that it will be quickly taken care of when you get back home!

I certainly hope that Sassy, the hyper puppy has been picked up by the owner by now. He/she certainly seems to be very inconsiderate! I hope you have been paid for the food eaten and your time trying to housebreak her! (Kennel fees can be quite high.)

Tami, I'm glad your hubby found another job and hope it will be more stable than some he might have had in the past. You are very smart to have health insurance for your family through your job. I hope the coming week will go smoothly for you - at both jobs!

MizT, it's good that you were able to get a load of yrdnual done, but how unfortunate that your can of orange soda split and left a trail for you to clean up! I'm glad you were able to drive your chair slowly and drag a paper towel with your foot to wipe up the mess! We once had the same thing happen, and it was also orange soda. I wonder if the cans are thinner than for other flavors? BTW, your dinner sounded interesting! My MIL used to call a meal like that 'Must-Goes.' Hubby and his Dad never had to eat 'left-overs.'

Mamacita, I hope you had saved your first post, or was everything lost and you had to begin from scratch? what a busy time you have had recently! I'm glad to hear that most of your relatives are recuperating well! Fingers crossed and prayers being said for your young cousin!

Your great niece's 3rd birthday party sounds like it was a real hit with both children and adults attending!

Was the trip to the casino your first? (Hubby and I have never been to one.) I wish you had been able to come home with a bit more money than you took! And an added bonus to hear and see the daughter of one of your group kids (I love the term) performing!

Wow, you also spent time in the nehctik gnikooc! Will you be bringing any of that banana pudding to SA to share with us?

Yes, it was definitely worth taking a bit more pain medication in order to enjoy your busy weekend!

I'm sending the usual wishes for all I've mentioned, as well as those I haven't! I know it's hard to find time to do all that we hope to accomplish. In fact, I've been debating if I should limit my time on facebook and/or here. I just don't want to lose track of the friends I've made over the years!

Feel free to share these positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and . Take care, everyone!

Well, after 7 hours we are home again. All went well but there's so much waiting and messing about for a 15 minute test. Won't know the result until his appointment with the Cardiologist next Thurs 7th Sep. We're not expecting any nasty surprises. Hope not anyway.

Evening all,
Not here again. Planning... yeah right.

Tami, we've been playing for health insurance here ever since we arrived even when we couldn't really afford it. It has paid for the hassle many times over as the National Health waiting lists for 'elective' surgery are horrendous. (Anything that won't kill you immediately is 'elective'. Pain is not a consideration, nor is quality of life.) Dana is still waiting over 4 months along for surgery she could have had in a week if she was still covered by our insurance. She is losing months of her life over this. And it sucks. So I understand completely why you are keeping yours going.

MizT, I think I'd be doing the washing one load at at time too. Unless I had a cart I could push into the elevator with me. A cart that would work with your electric chair. I was so glad to hear how conscientious you were over the drips. (Though what a pain that was!) I've lost count of the number of times I've stood guard over someone else's spill in a store while employees went to get something to clean it up with. It's not fair to put people at risk because they can't be bothered.

Heidi, hope the dog has gone.

Cyn, 7 hours for a 15 minute test?? Aaaahhhh!!

Mamacita, the party sounds like a lot of fun! In Oz you can play slots at most clubs and pubs - not night clubs, bowling, returned serviceman, exserviceman etc etc. We call them poker machines even though they are like slots, not like the actual poker machine I played in Vegas. I put in a couple of dollars if we go, which is usually less than once a year. I get bored after that though. I hope your pain levels decrease soon!!

Wow Julie, 4 posts and not a word about you. Hang on, I'm going to read them again to double check. Nope, left me hanging....

The dog is still here. IH and I decided if it's still here when I get back, I'll take it to the animal shelter as abandoned. He won't do it. He says the dog is my problem since I agreed to take care of it until the 25th.

I'm off now. Heading up to the dealership to get the trailer latch fixed, then heading down to Florida from there. I'll see you in 3 days, unless a glitch happens because of the latch.

Byeeeee.

I am back home. It's been a fun (said sarcastically) day. I hooked the trailer up to go to the dealership, and the adapter for the trailer plug in failed, shorting out the lights for the RV as well as freezing the brakes on the trailer. I didn't realize this had happened until I had a tire blow out. One of my brand new tires. So the dealership spent a few hours repairing that mess, changing tires, and trying to fix the latch. They didn't have the special bolt it needed, so they had to order it. The bolt will be here tomorrow. So I'm going to try again tomorrow to leave for Florida. I'm starting to think that ''somebody'' doesn't want me to go. But in the meantime, I have the central air repairman here right now.

Diagnosis? IH messed up the pump for the central air. He told me that he had been changing the air filter every month, but he lied. The filter hadn't been changed in about 6 months, had gotten completely blocked with dust, and the suction pulled it apart and sucked components into the pump. It's now working again, and I'm going to have fun yelling at IH when next I see him. I'm also going to take over the job myself.

This has indeed been a day filled with frustration for you Heidi... I feel so badly that all of these things are happening but do hope in the long run, things will work out. As far as the air conditioning...I'm not surprised and Gil gets out of another job he didn't want in the first place..win- win for him, yet I do understand why you choose to be responsible in the long run...no peace or rest for the weary...hang in there...things for the better will come...Peace.

Hello everyone, hope you're all well. :)
Seems I haven't been here for ages - ok, I admit I've been wasting too much time on stupid computer games!
Well I've also been working in the garden a lot (it's looking really nice!), practising my piano - not doing too well, and he's started me on theory lessons too! Have also started my miniatures again - there's a get-together every month, and I'm always surprised how quickly it comes around! I've been working on a little desk-set, with crystal ink well, pens and letters - it looks really nice. :)
Heidi, sorry about more problems to deal with. :(
CynB, hope all is well with hubby! Also, I know how boring it is when hospitals keep you waiting for hours! This is when Sudoku is very beneficial! :)

Hi all!
I was lucky to have my ipad with me on the day mum went to hospital. I had downloaded some books and spent hours reading. I'd have gone crazy with the boredom otherwise.
My mother is still in hospital. It is definitely her gall bladder playing up. The drs want to operate but she isn't keen. I just want to get her sorted our and home so I can move on with the sale of her house and buying the unit.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! It's so frustrating.

In the meantime MIL has gone back to hospital. She had another 'fall' and was admitted to the hospital of her choice this time. I say it's a 'fall' as they found her lying on the floor with a pillow under her head and wrapped up in a blanket. She says she fell to one knee and couldn't get back up again. Hmmmm, okaaaay.

Heidi, I hope everything goes well now with the trip to Florida. I think the heavens have decided that today was not the day to travel.

Cyn, I hope that Col's tests all turn out clear.

Suzy, happy planning. The only planning I see #1 son doing is when he is cooking with the kids. Last night he was making rocky road for the dads for fathers day. Today they are making choc chip biscuits to take home. I think he might do his planning on the days he acts as the deputy director of the centre.

June your holiday sounds fabulous. I'm living my dreams through you. Hubby wants to see Australia first so I think I'll be too old when we finish to travel overseas.

Tami, I'm glad to hear that your hubby has another job. That must be so unsettling when he is out of work. Good on you for being so proactive and getting a second job. Lots of people here would just bemoan their bad luck and wait for the government to bail them out.

Speaking of which, we have an election on Sept 7th and it can't come soon enough. I hate all this pre election advertising, he said - she said rubbish, promises, baby kissing etc. I've just about given up watching tv and most nights don't even turn it on as it's such apalling clap trap. Ok, rant over........it's back to work for me.

Hi, Friends!

Cyn, what a long day and a lot of waiting for a very brief test. I hope the results are as expected, and I hope Col won't need additional tests for quite a while!

Suzy, it's always fun to see you here when you aren't here. I hope the lesson planning is going well! It's too bad Dana couldn't continue her insurance with you, as I suspect she's still young enough. Hopefully her long wait for her surgery will soon be over; is there any indication as to when it might be scheduled?

Heidi, how awful that the dog's owner has essentially abandoned it! I guess it's not surprising that Gil won't do anything about it, preferring to wait for your return home so you can do it. After all, he can't even change a filter once a month. Do you suppose he really thought he'd get away with lying about it? I can fully understand that in the long run, it's easier for you to take on the job to insure that it gets done. He's lucky you're not the kind of person who 'keeps score.'

How frustrated you must be, Heidi, with the trailer dealership. Will they take responsibility and pay for the replacement tire? Did they have one in stock or use the fifth tire you bought as a spare? Hopefully the screw/latch will be repaired quickly tomorrow and you can be on your way. Remember that all the delays may be for a reason to prevent you from being in the path of misfortune.

Judy, how nice to see you! The 'stupid computer games' you mention may actually be of some benefit and are possibly not really a waste of time. Time spent in the garden is very productive and can be soothing, so that's a good thing! Of course, practicing the piano is a good thing, even if you're feeling frustrated currently. You may find that the theory lessons can be helpful in your practicing. I actually have found that to be the case in some instances. (That reminds me; I need to find out when my theory lessons begin again.) Judy, have you posted any pictures of your miniatures?

I've been practicing quite a bit, but not going quite as overboard about it as I had been. I have noticed some symptoms suggesting carpal tunnel problems, so when I start to hurt or am too tired, I know it's time to take a break from practicing. My next cello lesson is tomorrow (a day early), so I haven't had as much time to prepare as I would have liked. We'll see how it goes.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers, healing vibes and for all!

Tough exhausting day today but after my ride home with Alie I have tears of laughter running down my face. I hope I get most of this right.
Alie had an excursion today and they took the school bus. Alie was asked to close the gate after the bus was out. They were running late so she ran from the gate to the bus - and fell flat on her face in the middle of the road. (Described as beached whale followed by unhappy turtle when she was trying to stand up again.) She got up and started running for the bus again only to run into and bounce off of a car that had stopped to make sure she was okay. This time she landed on her butt. She jumped up and started running again, only to run right into the teacher who had ran out of the bus to make sure she was okay. Head butted him right in the chest. Not over yet. He had jumped out of the bus so quickly he hadn't put the handbrake on and the bus was rolling down the street.
Made my day, hope you got a smile too.

Oops, I missed you, Vicki, as I was typing. Does #1 do any cooking at home, or just at the centre? He must enjoy it. How fortunate (or well planned) that you had your iPad with you when you took your Mum to the hospital. I hope a plan of action that she agrees with can soon be found. Is it not possible to proceed with the sale of her home and the purchase of the unit while she is hospitalized?

I'm sorry to hear that your MIL has been hospitalized again. Is the hospital of her choice nearer to you or to the hospital where your Mum is? I can see why you would be a bit suspicious of her 'fall.' How fortunate for her that her pillow and blanket also fell and she had time to get wrapped in the blanket. Could it be that she is jealous of the attention your Mum is getting? I hope your life can soon return to 'normal.'

Julie, I didn't even think to give her a hug, I was laughing too hard, and driving. She was too. Apparently the kids in the bus couldn't work out why Alie and the teacher were laughing as the only thing they noticed was the bus starting to roll away. The teacher and the people in the car, were the only witnesses. No injuries, not even a real graze.

Gosh Heidi you are not having a good run at the moment. Everything seems to be going wrong for you. I hope you have some luck with the RV soon. There are good Samaritans out there who don't say 'not my business'. The parents of a friend of hubby's were driving on windy roads when the car behind them decided they should be going faster. It didn't just tail gate them, it drove into the back of them 3 times before eventually passing them. When they got to the police station, a witness was already there reporting it! Got 'em! But still have a damaged brand new car.

Suzy..... that episode with Alie and the bus WAS hysterical!!! I'd have been laughing my head off, too.

IH just started yelling at me over something really minor, so I lit onto him about the filter... about him lying to me about changing it.... about the cost of the last 4 service calls all because he didn't change the filter....and about the cost of replacing the unit (over $5000.00) which the repairman says will have to be done if this happens again. His inane response was that he didn't think it was important. My eyes bugged out and I asked ''Lying to me isn't important?'' He mumbled and wouldn't answer that. He admitted that he hadn't changed that filter in 10 months!!!! Even though I bought a stack of replacement filters for him to use.

I'm heading out in a half hour, and am going to try to leave for Florida again. Wish me luck? I need the good kind.

Good Evening, Everyone!

Suzy, I'm so glad Alie's pride and her body were apparently uninjured!

Viv, your new bedroom looks wonderful! Good luck to your son in finding a job!

Suzy, thumbs up for the good samaritans who reported the idiot driver. If he has been caught, won't he be responsible to pay for the damages?

Heidi, I think IH should be VERY glad that you were leaving for Florida and he could avoid further confrontation. He is certainly living up to his initials! By the way, what was he doing with the extra filters you had bought to make it easy for him to change the filters? Did he just leave them, hide them, or throw them away unused? Any of those options seems possible. I hope that every INCH of your drive to and from Florida goes smoothly and without any mishap!

June, I'm so glad your trip is progressing so well! It sounds wonderful! I look forward to your photos when you return home!

Tami, there must be a LOT of taxes being deducted from your paycheck! It makes me wonder about Florida! You and your family must live very frugally in order to make your paychecks last.

At my cello lesson today, my teacher rearranged how I hold the cello, a bit more vertically and higher on my body, so the top of the cello is higher and my left hand for fingering is higher than I'm accustomed to. It also affects my right arm for bowing. She feels the sound is much better. It's going to take some getting used to!

I must soon head to bed. Tomorrow is another busy day. (Aren't they all?) Positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and in abundance for everyone!

Julie, its not just taxes. It's health insurance and all the other insurances. The governor decided a few years ago that teachers needed to pay into the retirement system so they are now taking out 3%. I don't mind paying into retirement but I was not asked and I was not given a choice of how much.
