Hi, Everyone!

Tami, I understand they're not just withholding money for taxes and insurance. Here in Illinois we paid into retirement for years, but Illinois legislators considered the money to be a 'piggy bank' for their whims. Current legislators have been attempting for a couple of years to come up with a remedy (still not agreed upon). The best case scenario is that the money will be repaid to the account by 2045, except that Illinois is in dire monetary straits. On top of that, in Illinois, teachers can not collect social security, even if we have paid into it. Good luck to you, hubby and family!

June, I'm so pleased for your happy holidays! So, the flight to Athens and then Santorini is a different group - or will it just be you, Ken and possibly a guide? Have a wonderful time!

I hope all is going well for Heidi, the dog she took with her, and the RV and trailer. Does she reach FL today, or will it be tomorrow?

Time to head to bed. I woke up at around 5:15 this morning with a headache and sore throat. I tried to take a nap this afternoon with no luck. Hopefully I can get to sleep soon after hitting the bed tonight!

Thinking of everyone, sending healing vibes, positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and ! Enjoy the rest of your day/evening/night!

Hello again!
Julie, the Chief's comment is a bit scary! It makes me feel that I should be doing something important with my time ...
Also, I will try to upload some of my miniatures photos if you're interested. :)

Here after another day in the coal mines trying to make a difference in some children's lives. Turns out my class of 30 has about a dozen special needs kids in it - which nobody tells you. You have to find out somehow, which means knowing to look. And since most special needs kids are either not in a class of 30 or have support teachers come into the classroom, or both, who knew to look??!! I won't go into details for obvious reason, but aaahhh!!!!

I had forgotten how messy having a toddler in the house can be. If you're not cleaning food off the floor or faces, you are changing diapers, or cleaning up ekup....

Well, I have completely changed the way I am approaching that class. All 30 get to have it done differently.. which they will love because they are lazy. I need to take it a step further, but on a night where I'm babysitting, I'm kind of glad I came up with anything at all.

Greetings!

Judy, I don't think the quote is meant to make us feel inept. Rather, it's a reminder that what we do on a daily basis counts for something. We shouldn't assume we have no impact on the world around us. If you are a good person and attempt to improve the lot of those around you when you have the time and energy to do so, then you are making a difference.

Judy, I, for one, would enjoy looking a photos of your miniatures, but there's no rush! I still haven't posted a video of me playing the cello, and I planned to do that months ago.

Suzy, attempting to make a difference in students lives is all that really makes a difference. How awful that those with special needs have not been identified or given assistance. Thinking of you and knowing you will do what you can. Good Luck!

Suzy, ah, yes, a toddler spends a good portion of his/her wakeful time making a mess of everything, including themselves. But she's so cute when she's doing it!

Lizzy, you don't always need to read all the posts you've missed. We'll do our best to fill you in, if necessary. We're always happy to see you when you have time to visit!

Thinking of MizT, Broni, Heidi, Bean June, Tami, Vicki, and all others who I forgot to mention. May each day bring happiness and good health. Positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and for each of you!

TGIF!! Not that I can relax. Plenty to keep me busy this weekend, but not tonight. Tonight is my night off. Tahli is on her way back to mum, I got to have a cuddle after work before she left.

Hubby still sounds like a seal with his chest cold, but is on the mend.

I hope that I will be able to catch up with all the news sometime this weekend.

Daily anecdote: A student comes into the classroom and asks me questions about the homework. Another student comes in and interrupts telling me a story about something the first student did in another class (dobbing. I said, sit in your seat please A. He kept talking. Sit in your seat please A. Oh Miss the lesson hasn't started and you're already being horrible to me. You're being a C*** to me. Well, the second the lesson was over he was referred via computer which is kind of like your permanent record and spent his whole lunch in detention.

Looks as if I have been AWOL for a bit.

Wednesday was doctor day. I spent 6 hours on round trip and waiting in his office. I bought another basket of peaches, yeah!

Thursday was rest day. I did manage to go down to see the Resident's Art Show in the lobby. I had entered a lap quilt and 2 wall hangings. Was told someone wanted to buy one of them. Sorry, for show only not for sale. I have so few of my quilts as it is, gave them away after making them.

Thursday night, we had a 'theatrical event' in commons. eight of our residents did a reading of a TV script, The Golden Girls. They did a good job and we all enjoyed it!

Doc changed BP medication once again. Changed it to one we tried before but Dis continued cause of side effects. NOW, take it and then take this other new pill for side effects. We are running out of medication to try.

I had requested a letter from doc to go to Lakeshore, excuse for not going this month. they never sent it to Shannon as requested. I found out why. They now charge $10 to write a letter! I had not paid the fee, so no letter sent. they did not bother to TELL me. The letter I got is not going to be sufficient, it talks about excuse for physical therapy. NOT what I explained to them. I hope I have been my last time to that office. To many things slide through the cracks with paper work. My new chiropractor/nutritionist requested some of my medical records almost 3 weeks ago, and has not received them. wonder if they now charge for sending records too??

I got a notice from my insurance company. they did not pay two of my office visits, because they were not turned in to insurance within the 180 days as stated they must be in their contract. My first hint something seriously wrong with the office staff. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DAYS, that is six months, people! a very big and expensive OOOPS.

I have read, and facts flew into and out of brain quickly. I do remember Suzy and the unruley student. If we, or even my children called a teacher a vulgar name as that student did, we would face the principal, and then our parents when we got home. It would not have been a fun time.

Lizzy, good for you, reading all the back posts! but if you do not have time for that, as Julie said, we will catch you up on anything important. Good to see you post.

OK, I am going back to bed, just not percolating on all cylinders today. tummy a bit off.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, and NO GERMS hehehe.

Now in Santorini. A very spectacular Greek Island. About to go to dinner so no time to tell you much. I have been thinking about my Mum a lot today as it would have been her 100 birthday. She was 85 when she passed away. This is the best internet since we have been away so hope to get on later.

Hello friends!! I'm home. The RV and trailer behaved wonderfully, the trip (with one exception which I'll tell you about later) was fun and easy.
I ended up taking Angel with me instead of Missy, because Angel is the one who always instigates the fights and the bullying, and didn't need a bath before going, unlike Missy. She really enjoyed the trip and got a lot of admiration from everyone who met her.
I can't believe how big Pandora is! She's at least doubled in size!!! I'm going to have my hands full trying to teach her manners now. She's gotten used to having her own way. They were unable to get Sere bred. She's putting every bit of her body's energy into her daughter, and she isn't coming completely into season. We're going to have to wait to breed her until after Pandora is weaned. I am now planning on taking her back down there in April.
I wasn't able to visit my friends (and former neighbors) down there because Diane has a bad case of the shingles. She's really suffering, poor dear. So we can have a nice visit next Spring.

I came home at 1:30 am, to find the house swelteringly hot inside!!! I asked Idiot Husband what was going on, He told me that he turned the central air off ''to save money'' and couldn't figure out how to turn it back on. He said ''It must be broken.'' So I walked over to the thermostat and turned the air conditioning on again. I need to hang a sign on it forbidding him to touch it.

Well, I need to have brekkie, then get on the phone with the owner of that hyper little dog. She's STILL here! If she isn't gone soon, she's going to the animal shelter. I don't want to keep her.

OK... the one thing that went wrong..... I was heading home with the 2 horses in the trailer, and accidentally passed the Agricultural Inspection Station in northern Florida. Lass than a mile further, I had a police car flashing his lights at me to pull over. He got out of his car, looked over the trailer, then looked over the back of the RV with his eyebrows raised. Neither has a license plate. So I stepped outside the RV while he asked me for my license, registration for the trailer, registration for the RV, insurance and health papers for the horses. I explained to him that I'm from Kentucky, and trailers aren't required to be registered or carry license plates here. I showed him the temporary tag for the RV and all my other stuff. That's when it got interesting. First, I got a ticket for passing the inspection station. Then I got one because the horse's health papers had expired a couple of days earlier and I hadn't realized it. (it took the officer 10 minutes to find the date of expiration on the papers. How was I supposed to notice it?) But the big problem was the RV. The temporary tag said it's good until Sept. 13th, BUT when the officer ran a search of the temporary tag, he found it wasn't listed anywhere!!! There is NO record anywhere, except in my hands, that the RV even exists. So he called his superiors and THEY came out. They had their people looking everywhere for it, but nothing is on record for this VIN number. It seems that the dealership sold me the RV, took my money for it and for the registration, and has submitted NOTHING to the state. The RV is unregistered. So a major discussion ensued about fining me or even arresting me for driving an unregistered vehicle!!!! Fortunately, I had insurance, and every paper I'd ever gotten from the dealership,so they decided that I wasn't to blame and let me off. They told me that I had to have a long and serious talk with the dealership over this, especially since they told me 6 weeks ago that they had submitted all the paperwork. They also had an agricultural officer inspect the horses and give them a new health inspection paper. They were actually pretty nice about it. And they let me off with a much smaller fine than I expected. But this whole thing took over an hour at the side of the interstate.

OH MY GOODNESS, Heidi, what a tale! All the trouble you have had with trying to get back to pick up your horses, the trouble coming home, and Sere is STILL not pregnant! She is a smart Mama horse, needs all her attention on Pandora now. I can understand that. Never seen it happen before, but can understand. Glad you are home, very happy Gil had not broken the AC unit. I think the sign needs to go around his neck. Remember 'Here's your sign!'?

This month isn't over yet, and it's not going out without a fight. IH decided to use my tractor a little while ago to do some bush hogging, and he was driving it across the calving pasture, when he claims he hit a deep rut and shattered the back window of the tractor. I don't know of any deep ruts in the calving pasture. This is going to cost me nearly $1000. I guarantee that he won't pay for the damage, since he ''didn't mean to do it. It was an accident.''.

I forgot to tell you, aliens abducted and replaced my year 9 class! I have had 3 lessons in a row with them that I could actually teach! They aren't doing the listening thing well yet, but I figure the lack of a circus is a good step and I'll get the listening thing going too...

Just popping in quickly!

Enjoy your weekend, Suzy! Baby steps for your year 9 class, but at least they are steps.

MizT, hopefully you will be able to find another doctor's office that can actually handle paperwork & letters. And, yes, we have had to pay in the past for records to be sent from one doctor to another. I believe it was a set price per page.

June, I hope you and Ken have a wonderful time in Santorini!

Heidi, what a frustrating series of events, especially since you have returned home. Seems like IH is trying to ensure that he never will need to touch anything which might involve work.

I must get to bed, as we have an early wake-up tomorrow. Blessings to everyone! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers and

Hello everyone. Well I haven't been doing much since hubby went away. Although I have to say I do find it hard to do nothing. lol
I am still doing the crosswords with the Old Boy at FIG restaurant so that filled in the mornings.
Yesterday arvo I washed the car and did some gardening.
Today I have vacuumed the house and washed the floors.
Might go for a drive over to Flynns Beach now and then pick up some fish and chips on the way home.

Good Morning Everyone
Just touching base here since nothing much and everything is going on. By that I simply mean that life and friends and family are all accounted for w/o major news, although I have had some very pleasant visits with some and we continue to get the little one ready to start on her schooling with shopping and priming. Life is good.
Do hope that as we start a new month, the luck, health and fortunes will be better for all. Heidi, some of your misfortune will be there as long as Gil is...its just his way, so it seems.Suzy, kids will always be rude to test..you showed him that you found it unacceptable...go girl! Tricia...do hope the meds will soon be adjusted...such a trial, but necessary to work through it with a smile when you can...Prayers, hugs, good vibes and any thing else needed is available ...just give the word...Peace to you as you continue on in life.♥

Hubby has just successfully fixed my oven The bottom element blew a few weeks ago so I have not been able to bake, just broil. Makes dinner interesting. We found the part online for $65 from manufacturer and for $18 from another place. Ordered it from the other place. It came a few days ago. Hubby just took out the old one and put in the new one. Turned oven on and it started to turn red. I am a happy camper.

Tami.... I have been laughing my head off over the RV and Florida mishaps. It's gotten so involved and continuous that it IS funny. Paranoia is funny, too. I realize that when things go wrong, you know you will laugh about them later, so why not laugh about them right away? If you survive something, you have the right to laugh. Besides, laughter is healthy.

Another early night for me.

I won't be talking to the owner of the RV dealership until Tuesday, because Monday is a holiday (Labor Day) so everybody is closed. Because of the downpour still going on, I won't be able to mow the lawn tomorrow. So I am going to have a nice, relaxing day tomorrow, and have decided to start early.

I left a message for the guy who owns the hyper little dog. He has been told that unless he picks up the dog, it's going to the dog pound as an abandoned animal Tuesday morning. I have had enough. She's STILL not housebroken!

Sunday and I feel like the weekend should just be starting. Don says the teaching is helping. Usually going out for coffee with friends has me not finishing sentences etc. Now I'm still operating after a full day in the coal mines. I beg to differ. I come here and think of a million things to say and can't put it together into sentences. Tos is easier, I don't need full sentences.

I bought something for my students at Target yesterday. I bought a 50 foot long coloring scroll. It is about about 10 inches wide. I figured it would take a long time to color in but the kids can work on it on rainy days when we can't go outside. Then I will have to figure out a place to hang it
