Sorry to hear all about your problems, Theresa. It must seem like the never-ending ordeal.

Tami.... I can't get the foot fixed. I need to be walking the pastures at least once daily, and with the mud, I need to have muck boots on. I can't fit them over a cast or splint because they have to be snug enough not to be pulled off by the clay mud. If this had happened at any time other than calving season, I could have had it casted. As it is, I have to grit my teeth and deal with it. Fortunately, it's just a hairline, not a compound (displaced) fracture. I can feel the difference since I've done both so many times. It'll be feeling much better in a few weeks. The pain has already improved to the point where I don't scream uncontrollably anymore when I slide the boot on. I just grit my teeth and wince now.

OOPS... Sorry. I hadn't looked at the post count. Nothing inspirational there. I might as well throw in the only poem I ever wrote, when in 4th grade.

My aunt has fallen into the lake.
About this I do not care.
For she has left a chocolate cake,
And her long underwear.

I repeat.... I have never been able to improve on it.
I am not a poet, but felt I should share something since I messed up on a TOPP.

Morning all,
Heidi, you might not have been a poet in 4th Grade but you had a good sense of humour! I liked it!

Julie, I checked the time you posted - you are doing too much if you are doing paperwork until after 2 in the morning... Hope you slept late!

Theresa, I've never heard of anyone not being able to put weight on a leg after a hip replacement - either this surgery is more different than I thought, or they've completely messed it up! Look after you , remember you can't help anyone if you fall in a hole.. hugs to your daughter

Rolanda, I am so sorry for your loss

MizT, putting the pudding in Al's feeding tube sounds almost criminal, I was drooling over it from over here! I hope he can swallow something today. I hope the CCR monster is away.

Tami, how exciting for Dylan, I remember Dana's first RBI. She never did manage a home run but she has mostly been on men's teams so I'm not surprised.

Gail, I saw some shorts of the Grand Prix on TV last night - looks noisy to me! Hope you are having a great time there...

By the way folks, I am feeling a lot better today - and of course rain clouds are coming over so I won't be able to do the outside ffuts I wanted to.

I have been bad again. I've just added another species of bird to my collection. I bought a pair of Scarlet Chested Parakeets (native to Australia). They'll be arriving here next Tuesday or Wednesday. I posted a picture of a male on my page. These are probably the gentlest of all parakeets, and the only species that can be kept with finches and canaries in an aviary. I'm planning on putting them in with the budgies.

Suzy, it wasn't a total hip replacement as such, it was a new technique called resurfacing. She has a metal plate where the top of her femur used to be.

I am exhausted, but SonIL won't be home until 9:00 PM. I'm just taking a small break before I start the suppers.

Heidi, what a beautiful bird.

Nice looking bird Heidi, though I don't recognise the colour combination.

Gail, we have a speedway a couple of km away - never been tempted to go...

More hugs Theresa!

Heidi, that is a really pretty bird. I hope the pair gets along well with your other birds. If I know you, you will be buying more of them soon and breeding them also. I don't need to visit a zoo, I can just come to your house.

Suzy... The birds originate in Southern Australia, and there are very few left in the wild. They are fragile birds, not for novices.

This is a breeding age pair that I bought. It'll be very exciting if I end up with babies! But I'm not going to expect it. They're not the easiest birds to raise.

Good Evening Everyone! It's so nice to be here before midnight!

Have just read page 17 and see that Becky is back! Welcome back! We've missed you! Hope all is well!

Suzy, wow, teaching ag classes may be interesting! On to read page 18, but not enough time to comment on everything I read. Still will need to start back at page 1, not to mention check out the end of SA9A!

I've made it to page 20. Hello, Everybody!

Heidi, is Robert's granddaughter's name really critter? I'm hoping it's just a nickname. I hope she's enjoying her new mattress! Are there any organizations to help his daughter get the necessities for the baby?

MizT, I hope you and Al are doing OK! I don't know how you get everything done - other than constantly being busy. I hope you're able to get some sleep on a regular basis! What great news that Al can swallow some soft food! {{{HUGS}}}

Heidi, I hope your foot is better and you and Gil have shaken off the fever! {{{HUGS}}}

Gail, I hope you & hubby, son & his GF enjoy the Grand Prix!

Rolanda, so sorry to hear about your cousin's husband! A very difficult time, but he's now out of pain.

Suzy, I hope you're feeling better! Hope it doesn't impact how frequently you'll be called to teach. Do you think you were a bit nervous about teaching ag?

Theresa, thinking of you, your D, sonIL, grandies, hubby, etc. Must be very difficult to be told no weight on the leg! Hopefully things will progress a bit more quickly with physical therapy! Hang in there, Sweetie! {{{HUGS}}}

Heidi, your poem is quite - um - breathtaking! I bet your classmates loved it! So glad you can now put on your muck boot without screaming - just wincing & gritting your teeth. At least it's progress! The Scarlet Chested Parakeet is beautiful! Will you just stick with one pair - or end up getting another breeding pair? Yep, I think you have a "brown thumb!"

Gail, keeping fingers crossed for quieter days with less sun and more fun! Of course, you know you're having fun!

I'm going to go back to the beginning of SA10 and see what I've missed!

Sending positive thoughts, , {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and prayers for all! Take care of yourselves!

Heidi, looked up the Scarlet-chested Parrot (neophema splendida)
Distribution; Western NSW, through northern SA to the coastal areas of the Great Australian Bight, and inland in scattered colonies in WA.
Also called splendid grass parrot. A rare species; frequents dry inland areas interspersed with patches of low scrub, often far from water. nomadic and apparently subject to marked fluctuations in numbers. During the present century (20th.as book dated 1990) it has frequently been bred in aviaries.
Food seeds of grasses and herbaceous plants. nest; hole in tree, Eggs; 3-5. breeding season August to December (spring).
Good luck with the breeding. I wonder if this species of bird originally left Australia illegally?

Hi Julie, we both seem to posting together. My friend is doing well at the moment. Off the chemo which is giving her body a chance to recover. Another PET scan at end of May. We have State elections today and she is actually working a large polling booth (ie she is actually in charge!)
And yes Suzy I have also voted!
(Voting compulsory in Australia and if you do not vote you get a fine!)

Theresa, it is hard watching your daughter suffer and being tired trying to help. Maybe something special will turn up soon to bring a smile.
Tricia, I wish I was close enough to give you some practical help, even turn up with a few punnets of flowers to brighten you days during summer! So sorry Al keeps getting the ray treatment delayed. It will be nice when it is all finished.

I went to have some photos printed on Wednesday as a special for 9 cents a print. The ones Sharon had put on a USB stick would not work. I went back today with them on a new USB and would you believe the machines had all broken down. Back to regular price next week and the other place was 15 cents. Not urgent and I want to get about 100 done so will wait for another special.

Gekko all,
June, the same thing happens here when they have printing specials.. all the machines break down.

Interesting conversation with hubby this morning. A relatively large number of young men seem to be identifying as bi-banned word. I asked him if he thought it was becoming cool to be bi. He said he thought it might actually be a way to stand up for gay people, in which case it certainly was cool.
