One out of four people in this country is mentally imbalanced. Think of your three closest friends and if they seem okay, then you're the one.

The new parakeets haven't been shipped yet. I think the breeder is waiting for it to warm up.

Good morning all. My avatar is reflecting the weather here today.
June, we've had ants in our kitchen for weeks, just get rid of one lot and another come in. Now I know why - it's been torrential here this morning, although it has eased to a drizzle in the last 20 minutes.

And yet, CynB... That hospital is still running and committing more malpractice. That's the closest hospital to me, and if I have to call an ambulance, that's where they'd take me. So I refuse to ride in an ambulance here.

Afternoon all,
Bought myself a little bit of extra allowance, but I'm being very careful with it so only one visit a day..

Cyn, we've mentioned the doc who botched ops before - another doc in another country had the same name and was messing up!

June, sorry to hear about your back and the ants...

Heidi, great news about Buddy!

Rolanda, hope it cools down soon.

Anecdote: My mother has moved to farm country and since they started getting rain, mice have been a significant problem. They say that it will get worse when the farmers harvest. Worse than trapping 70 mice in a week???? She even has to chase them around her bathtub with a pair of tongs!!

Rolanda, you can have some of my coolness, have too much at the moment. Unfortunately, it is a damp cool, and you have to take both. Temp to remain steady overnight and more T-storms forecast. I am tired of T storms.

Last night was a no sleep night, I got off to sleep about 4:30. Luckily I could sleep till 9. then had a nice nap in my chair. But all you insomniacs know, you really cannot make up lost sleep, once lost it is forever lost.

Al has been on the phone with Joy tonight. My telling her Dad is better is not the same as hearing him talk and laugh with her. think it did them both good.

At last I got my card saying I have zero deductibles for medical services. I thought, good, no more insurance questions. Then pain management phons, asking me about my insurance, saying the company informed them my coverage ended at midnight 3/31. I have to phone them, person I talk with says, yes, we have a copy of your letter of award from medicare, zero co pay since 2/1. New policy in effect 4/1 (the one that gives me vision and dental) No laps in coverage. So this lady had to talk to the one pain management talked too, and then that person would call Pain people back. I hope it all got done today. I was going to phone and check, but that was when I fell asleep. I will check again tomorrow. Shall we take wagers on when I get this pain block?

thankfully, tonight pain meds are working, I have less pain than all day, that is good. After 2 restless nights I would like a good night's sleep tonight, if that is not too much to ask, please. If I must be awake again, being almost pain free would be good.

Thanks for the many well wishes for me and AL. It does help to know there are so many thinking about him.

Heidi, happy that buddy is already on the mend. An abscess like that, ouch, never fun. Now will Buddy stand for you with that foot in a bucket of Epsom salts? It takes a well mannered horse to do that. I do hope your parokeets arrive safely and are everything you expected. Where are they flying from? Will you have to pick up at airport? Or are they coming by other means?

Tami, I am proud to be one of your friends, and I think I would fit in nicely.

JUNE, hope you can invite the ants out and that your back gets better soon. I am like you, it is tough seeing what the treatment for cancer can do to a person. I saw one patient receiving his last chemo, and he was so emaciated, and shaking with cold. He was in his recliner and his wife was adjusting his polar fleece hat and muffler, tucking his huge fleece blanket around his heavy coat, and finding his gloves, too, this inside a nice warm room.

Al is so lucky he only lost 16 pounds, and that this last 2 times with pneumonia. He has already regained 2, is tolerating his feedings very well now, and is looking forward to eating in th e near future.

OK, a new TV program is starting, Al is inviting me to come see, so I will leave you now, with hugs for all. It is nice to hear him ca

Suzy, good to see you back, happy you were able to get more minutes! You were posting while i was reading and typing. Shows how slow I am tonight.

Suzy, that is a LOT of mice! Would keep my little mouser way too busy! Not a fan of mice,

id i tell you about Al getting so upset with one mouse we had, when we lived on the farm? No cat then, and that mouse would run across the 4 foot aisle in my kitchen. Said asile ws highly vis8ble to AL in his recliner. he set traps, he put out poison, he still saw the mouse. So, he gets a pellet pistol, and sits with it in his lap. Saw the mouse sneak out, fired off a round, but missed. Few minutes, mouse returned, Al fired again, and got the little grey fuzzy thing. that is why there is a dent in the bottom front corner of the side of my fridge, no kidding.

Hi everyone!
Nothing exciting happening here but I thought I'd just drop in for a quick hello. The rain is making it quite cool so I've turned off the air-con near my desk.
Yesterday's lunch didn't agree with me, so I've been taking it easy.
I've started knitting a spiral scarf. I can't think how long it's been since I last knitted. I chose a dark denim colour so my uneven knitting won't be so obvious.

Trying to get information out of James is like trying to draw teeth. I've asked him how many he has invited for Friday - about 10. When are they coming - around 7 so he can push them out the door at 9 (as if that's going to happen - but it would be nice). What do you want me to organise for food - whatever.
Boys!!!!!!! Well, it sounds like pizza, finger food and beer to me.
The hardest part is going to be dealing with the dog. He loves visitors. Even better, he'd love it if they left the door open so he could escape. I can't shut him out the back because he'll just bang on the door. I can't even send him away for the night as I don't know where to send him and the neighbours are no good cause he'll just bark. It should be fun. Maybe he can help me in the kitchen.

Friends!

Seems we may have had a quieter day today. Starting my reading on page 26:

A huge thank you to all those who send positive thoughts and prayers for various requests. I see two admitting today that they don't pray much. I would also be one on that list, but gladly make an exception, as the rest of you do, when it's for a good cause! Thank you, thank you, everyone, who willingly makes those exceptions and think loving positive thoughts for those in need!

Heidi, I'm aghast at the attitude of doctors (and inevitably some nurses and administrators) about the lack of appropriate medical care in that "hospital!" If lawsuits were brought, I can't imagine that no awards were made - or do the doctors get the only good lawyers in the county? The cases you mentioned are so awful that it's unimaginable that they are found not guilty of malpractice! As many of you said, it doesn't bring back those who suffered, but it is hopeful that it would prevent continuing problems!

I hope the elections down under had better results than many of you were anticipating!

June, hurray for the good win, but sorry to hear you're in second place at bowls. Hopefully this week will bring your team into first place! Also, so sorry to hear about the ants. Just what you DON'T need if your back is acting up!

Suzanne, hope you will soon be feeling better!

Heidi, Buddy sounds like a wonderful companion. (I won't call him a horse.) I had forgotten that he gets invited to neighborhood birthday parties. He must be quite a character! So glad to hear that you could get him to the vet for prompt treatment! Here's hoping he'll soon be 100% again! Will he be good about letting you soak the foot in epsom salts, then redressing it?

Theresa, I hope your queasiness is gone and the rest of the day improved! Also glad your sonIL was at home to help with many of the things you would be doing if he were at work!

Tami, you've had a couple of great TOPPS in a row, I think - and both friend related. Thanks!

Yep, the unbalanced applies here, as well! Could be that's why we all get along so well together?

Cyn, I hope the torrential rains have ended! I'm thinking you're right about the ants - much more inviting inside than out in the heat, rain and humidity!

Heidi, with the weather/temperatures being as fickle as they've been, the parakeet breeder is probably right in delaying their shipment. We keep hoping spring will finally find its way here! Well, so much for my theory. I see you received an email that the parakeets will be arriving tomorrow!

Suzy, thanks for buying yourself a little more internet allowance! I don't know how we'd handle almost 2 weeks without your sunny visits! Suzy, SEVENTY mice in one week! Good Grief! That would not be a place I would enjoy, I'm afraid.

Rolanda, you're welcome to some coolness from here. It has actually been dry to go with that, but partly cloudy, so I can't guarantee blue skies for you.

MizT, I wish I could send you some pain-free restful nights! Hopefully you'll get some sleep tonight! Good news about your zero deductibles. All you need to do is get everyone on the same page. Hopefully that happened today while you got a little rest! How nice that Joy and Al were able to enjoy a phone conversation! {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to both of you and positive thoughts that there will be NO need to return to chemo and radiation! Hoping for a rapid recovery of voice, swallowing, appetite, etc. for Al! Hope you enjoyed watching the TV program together!

Vicki, I'm glad you could enjoy a quieter and cooler day at work today! Will you post a picture of the dark denim colored spiral scarf when it's completed? Good luck with the party for James this weekend! Sounds challenging to find out his wishes. Hopefully the dog will be a wonderful assistant for you in the K room! (Actually, this reminds me a bit of D's wedding planning for August. We don't know who and how many are in the wedding; we don't know who will be invited; etc. Haven't seen or even been given a description of her dress. We'll just do the best we can.

Rolanda - wish I could send some rain your way. The cooler weather you can have as long as it's not a swap for the hot weather - had enough of that.
Heidi - I don't blame you I wouldn't want to go near that hospital!

Past 11 p.m. and hoping to get to bed earlier today and sleep better. The cough still keeps interfering. If it's not better by Thursday (our annual physicals), I'll ask the doctor's advice.

MizT - got a laugh about Al and the mouse. He and my father must have beem related - my parents had a mouse in their house, probably about 10-12 years ago, I know Dad was at the start of his Alzheimers. They chased it into the spare room, where it hid behind a cupboard. Dad got his pellet gun thingy, told Mum to stand at the other side of the cupboard and shot at the mouse! Luckily he got the mouse, not Mum!! When my brother heard about the incident he came and took all of Dad's rifles, even though he had licences for them. Dad was miffed to say the least!!

Hi Julie, probably missed you while I was typing - I seem to find an empty room every time I call by here.

Cyn, we can't lock him away as all the doors have lever handles and he can manipulate them to open inwards or outwards. If we lock him away then he just throws himself at the door or scratches at it. 25kg of dog can do a fair bit of damage.
He does love the big white box in the kitchen. All the good things live in it. If they aren't in there then the rubbish bin is a good second choice. It has a flip lid which he just pushes up with his nose. This morning he found an empty ham packet that needed his attention before he finished off the leftover scambled eggs.
