Suzy.... I agree with you completely. Your wish for Maxine is what I, too, wish for her. It's something she wouldn't get with either her BF or with her adopted mother. Both feel the necessity to run her down and destroy her self esteem every chance they get. Maxine is beautiful, loving and caring girl who has a lot going for her, if only she can believe in herself. At this point, I truly believe that her best shot at recovering that self esteem is to come here.

Maxine's adopted mother is now e-mailing me, accusing Maxine of having stolen her GPS. And she's getting downright nasty with me because I told her that I don't believe Maxine took it. Maxine has been gone from her place for over 6 months, and I have heard her mother using it in the background when I've been talking to her on the phone since then. Her response to that was to ask me why I'm afraid to confront Maxine over her theft!!!! I'm starting to suspect that this friendship is at an end.

Oh Brenda.. you are NOT selfish.. you are more generous than most. Celia knows that as do we.. take time out for yourself... everyone that cares for you will understand and those that don't REALLY don't matter

Glad the calving is off to a good start after that premature blip early on..

Mama thank you for appreciating and not being irritated by my state of mind.. it went REALLY well...

One more page to go... yeehaa..

Suzy I am curious as to why the Cardiologist didn't write you a referral to the Neurologist. They should have done / be able to do so from the hospital or his rooms if you were a private patient. Going back to your GP just for that is technically rorting the system and another reason why Medicare gets into such a mess. It is also something you shouldn't have to be doing on top of all your rehab.

A phone call may save you $30 ..better in your pocket. A referral from a specialist to another specialist doesn't have the same duration as that from your GP..cannot remember tho which way it goes.. seem to think it is less.

Good luck. x

Glad to see that you are ok Nola.

That is sad Heidi about the friendship but they do have a reason & a season I think. It is often unfathomable why friends fall out.. Misunderstandings.. intolerance of differences. Trust and an issues like this is a REALLY difficult one to sort.

Is she feeling 'threatened' by what you are doing for Maxine? Does it boil down to why people do things for others... for the cudo's THEY receive for doing the right thing and hence the supposed sole right to be critical of M.. Does she resent that you are doing this purely from the generosity of you heart with no expectation other than the hope that M will get her life together and have a better one.. become independent..

Complex issues.. don't YOU get hurt..

It's been quiet down under, I see.
I'm about to go out and do a cow check in a few. I wish I didn't have to go to North Carolina at the start of calving season. If there's an emergency, it won't be dealt with. Oh, well. I gave my word.

Hi, Everyone! It's just past midnight (relatively early for me), but the alarm was set for an early time this morning - and will be earlier for the next 2 mornings. Yikes! I hope everyone is well!

Got a bit of ffuts done about the house today - and lots of practicing. Next weekend is the mid-winter cello festival. I need to review all of the pieces I've learned, as they may be studied/reviewed in large group classes and played on the final concert. I guess it's a good workout for the brain. I didn't realize how much I had forgotten already.

I hope everyone had an excellent Valentine's Day and will have a fantastic weekend! Please stay healthy, my friends! Take care of yourselves! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, positive thoughts, and healing vibes for each of you!

Well brain, slightly defuzzed, body is taking more time but I did it.
Had a wonderful week, new car (for me), caught up with a lot of the family, then Zusy, June and Viv. Wow what a week! Over 2000k travelling.
Had a quiet morning, Pete took me out for lunch, couple of drinks early dinner and my pillow is calling me already.
Love and Hugs my friends, I do think of you as I read.

So pleased you are home safely Broni. It was great that we were able to catch up. Sorry I had to leave early for the bowls game (Which we lost).
I had a better game today which was the final of our club pairs. Unfortunately we lost by one point.(Against the club champion).
We then went and saw MIL who is back in hospital. This time because she was not eating. Some tests say she has thickening of the oesophagus and she has spasming that is causing a lump feeling and some nausea. Not much fun having her get older.
My other news is that last Monday we confirmed and payed for our trip to Turkey, Greece and UK. Leaving here 12 August. I do need to get a bit fitter before then.
Heidi, I do hope you have a good trip and that everything works out for the best for Maxine.

Morning all. It has been a few weeks since I've been here. I got a pep talk from a friend (you know who you are).

I have just been a bit overwhelmed lately and my life has taken over ME instead of the other way around. Too much to do and too little time to do it in.

Maggie is having problems with her hip (the one where she had the replacement) - bursitis has set in and she is back to walking with a cane.

FIL is still in the hospital and I am now doing his laundry ... not always a pleasant chore. MIL is in the nursing home and has been told she will not be coming home. She is depressed.

Hubby and I will visit FIL today and MIL Monday. FIL might be going home for a SHORT time until there is room for him at the nursing home where MIL is. His doctor has said he can no longer make any large decisions or financial decisions on his own as dementia has set in. So if he does go home, hubby will spend most of his time down there and I will hopefully get to see him on weekends. What a conundrum!!!!

As for me, I seem to be not too bad. I saw the plastic surgeon about my index finger and he wants to leave it alone. If it gets worse I have to go back to see him. The last appointment took 9 months ........

I had a fall last week or the week before, can't remember. I jarred my right arm and shoulder a bit, but managed not to hit anything significant (except my bottom when it hit the ground). It took a few days for the throbbing pain to dissipate, but I seem to be OK. I was home alone and I was wedged between a tree and the back door. I had a great deal of trouble getting up, so I sat there and laughed and laughed and then laughed some more. Sometimes life can be funny ... or maybe I'm just getting senile.

Good thoughts going out to all who need them. I think I am caught up in the reading, but do you seriously think I remember much? Good luck on your trip, Heidi.

Noice to see you here, Theresa. I've missed you. I wish you a lot less drama in your life. You could use some serenity and less pain, too.

I had a miserable night last night. Spent the night running back and forth to the bathroom. I got no sleep until nearly 11 am! Then I got a 2 hour nap. I'm gonna HAVE to get some real rest tonight, what with that long drive tomorrow.
I'm not quite ready to go, although I'm only gonna be gone 3 days at the most. One day driving, each way, and one day there. I've put out enough hay for the cows and horses to last them the whole time, and I have a good stock of dog and cat food here.
I have a friend coming in to feed and water the birds, and I have plenty of food in stock for all. I still have to find a new washer for the float valve for the cow's water tank, put out mineral for the horses and clean out the bird cages. And I still have to pack. It's a lot of work to make the place IH proof just to be gone a few days. He will be in charge of calving for those 3 days, but I have plenty of ear tags, 10 lbs of milk replacer and a stomach feeding tube for weak calves in stock. There shouldn't be any emergencies, tho'. I've selected cows and bulls for calving ease for generations, and we rarely have any troubles any more, except for the odd breach birth.

Hi all,
Theresa...sometimes, too many things happen at the same time and it all becomes daunting.Luckily you didn't hurt yourself badly in the fall. I hope your FIL can get into care quickly putting your mind at ease by knowing he is being looked after and alleviate some of the extra work you and hubby are doing. With any luck,he might go from hospital into care.
As for Maggie...as if she hasn't got enough on her plate without this starting again!
Wishing You,Hubby and Maggie, the strength you need to cope.

June... problems for you also, with MIL.Thinking of you too.
With your holiday booked, you now have something great to look forward to.

Broni...glad you are home safely and you managed to catch up with family and friends.Bet you had ball.

Heidi..take care on the roads and with any luck, there won't be any issues on the farm while you are away.

Julie...enjoy your concert! It has been nice to hear some news from you about your personal life.
Busy as always too.

I hope to be back later after the puzzles.
Happy days wished for all.

Bean, I'm pretty sure specialists can't refer you to specialists, it has to be a GP. Either way I have to pay to get the referral. I can pay $60 to my GP or $150 to the specialist...

Theresa, I'm glad you are back. Vent, say nothing but hi, whatever feels right, sometimes talking makes things better, sometimes it just makes things feel more overwhelming. I'm glad you could laugh about your fall, at the time anyway. If we can't laugh at ourselves then life would definitely become too hard. I hope things sort themselves out with your inlaws... Hopefully now you've seen the specialist it won't take as long to get in next time. 9 months was a long time to wait to be told he doesn't want to do anything yet!

Heidi, what a bummer about Maxine's adoptive parent (if you could call her a parent). That level of hate is impossible to overcome. Nice healthy calves is great news! Have a safe trip!

Julie, good luck at the concert. I wish I could be there to hear it!

Broni, I loved having you here and just wish I was better company, I hope i don't have to wait as long to see you next time. When I was in Viv's area, she was off somewhere else... My pillow will be calling me early tonight too- if I make it until then. Rehab on Friday (only my second one) really took it out of me. Then coffee with my friends on Saturday was exhausting! Something about talking to 5 people at once was too much for me. I had picked up Tahli beforehand too. Now she is walking she is into everything! Well, she was into everything before, but she's faster now. Then we had an early morning wake up call this morning - an eff alarm. Yep, a dozen blokes effing this and that while parked on our nature strip. Scared the cr@p out of Alie, woke up Tahli too, but I didn't call the police until I heard a girl say something and be answered with 'get the eff back in the car' in the meanest snarliest voice you can imagine. The police just asked them to move on but they left immediately. Phew!

Nola, I think I heaved a sigh of relief when I heard that insurance was going to cover most things and forgot that still left a lot of hard work for you. Big hugs! I'll probably have to get hubby to drive me up to meet you, but I still plan to be there!

June, that was a close game! Good one..

My calendar is loaded. Between singing lessons and hip hop for Alie, doctor's appointments, rehab and get togethers I'm pretty much fully booked for a couple of months now. And I'm still hoping to be called in to work (though I'm not sure how I'll go making it through the day)

Alie has a new singing teacher. She is an Opera singer though she teaches everything. Alie came out of the lesson excited and bubbling (unfortunately I didn't get to hear it because when it came down to it I didn't feel ready to do the long drive) but hubby said Alie was pushed and definitely did a good job. Her old singing teacher was good but because they are now more friends than teacher/studen

Packed, finally. I almost forgot that I have to load up a few cages. One of the BF's friends is looking for a home for a rabbit, and possibly a bird. I have no idea what kind of bird, so I'll just bring along a few millet sprays and a spill proof waterer. The odds are that the bird is a Budgie. The friend is also looking for a home for his dog, a hound, but I really don't have the room.

Greetings to all! I've done a quick scan through comments.

June, your trip will be wonderful! SO excited for you.

Heidi, drive safely, and I hope all goes well!

Theresa, it's SO good to see you here. Even a quick hello on days you don't feel like talking much is fine! You certainly have a LOT to deal with right now. Though I'm so sorry you fell and had a difficult time getting up, I'm glad you were able to see the humor in it! Prayers for your MIL, FIL, Maggie, you and your hubby! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Suzy, sounds like your schedule is really full! Hopefully you'll have some fun along with all the running/driving/rehab/work (hopefully)!

Broni, I'm glad you arrived home safely! You must be exhausted!

Nola, like Suzy, I had forgotten that even though insurance will help to pay, there is a lot of work for you to do! Too bad we can't put together an SA work party to help each other out.

Judy, hope all is well and your rehab is not too exhausting! It's always nice to see a post from you.

Heidi, you sound well prepared for being away a few days. I hope the calving continues with healthy calves and happy cows!

June, too bad about the big tournament, but what a close game at the club bowls! Sorry to hear that your MIL is back in the hospital!

Suzy, that is NOT the way I want to be awakened in the morning. You were right to call the police! What a shame that they woke up Alie and Tahli, as well! Good luck to Alie with her new voice teacher!

It's past midnight, and the alarm is set for 6:00, so I'd better get to bed. Thinking of all of you and sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, , positive thoughts, healing vibes and prayers. Take care, everyone!

June, although Alie's singing teacher sings opera, Alie is not. She's got a song from Wicked, a Paul McCartney song, and 2 others to practice before her next lesson. So far the chances of Alie even entering an Eisteddfod are zero.. maybe her new teacher will change her mind.

Rolanda, the new place is all coming together...
