Heidi - sorry about Mandy and about your bad day!
Suzy - I had seen parts of that interview with the man who helped the girl out of that house of horror. I'm so pleased all 3 have been found alive, but what horrors they must have been through and how will they cope from now on?

Yesterday our Prime Minister visited a school up here and it was reported on the news that one of the students threw a sandwich at her. Col, Andrew, Em and I were watching this on the news when we realised it was at Hayley's High School!
Not that we thought she would have done it. If she'd got close to the PM, she would have wanted to sing or dance for her!

IH did something nice, but weird, tonight. He traded 6 goat stomachs to an Indian restaurant for an order of Tandoori chicken, with all the sides. It was delicious! I asked what they wanted with goat stomachs, and he didn't know. I suggested Indian Haggis? He also told me that it was his last delivery to that restaurant. The bank is foreclosing on his processing plant next week. That's 4 years and I-don't -know-how-many tens of thousands of dollars down the drain.

The puppies are running loose in the house for the first time right now, while I'm preparing their supper. Not all the old timers are happy about it, but the pups are thrilled.

Good news, I sold the dinghy last week and have two people interested in my old Jeep, market is depressed so not the money I hoped for but they will be out of my way!
Heidi if you enjoyed your prairie oysters and like spicy food sure you could stomach(hehe)goat stomachs!
Had a rough couple of weeks but coming here and reading did really help.
Thank you my friends.

This is too early in the morning for me.... 8 am.... but the puppies were screaming to be let out and fed. I made Sandy nurse them a little in their pen outside and their brekkie will be ready in 15 minutes.

Hi Everybody... Just finished a respiratory test overnight to check on my Co2 levels...if they were low or steady, I may not have to continue to wear the cpac mask every night....and that would be wonderful, even if I need to continue to use the oxygen then.
The New York trip was good fun. I had the show wrong, we saw Motown, The Musical, not The Book of Mormons...It was okay...nothing to write home about, but still an outing. They didn't do enough of Stevie Wonder or Lionel Richie's music and dwelled on the love relationship between Berry Gordy and Diana Ross to suit me...However had a great meal, good conversation with several cousins that met us and all in all, a bittersweet day in our ongoing celebration of Carita on what would have been her 60th birthday.
Hearing how the pups continue to grow brings a smile to my face too Broni...and like you, glad the clean up is Heidi's...lol. Heidi, as always you do put your animals well-being and care ahead of your own, so I know you understand that comment. I do want to tell you though that I was so saddened by Maddy's condition when you first wrote about it and thought this would end as it did. You are a very strong lady to know and act in the right way for the animals and I greatly admire that. Thanks for setting such a good example of love and care of our furry babies and seniors.
June, so glad your testing came out with positive news..and I can just imagine the relief when you got that news...♥
Several of you were kind enough to send me your Skype Information, but it must have gone to the last number...which I don't have, so am not able to see that contact list...If one of you would be so kind as to send me that address used in a personal message I might be able to get all of the numbers I need...Many thanks and apologies for the bother.
I had more to say, but my memory refuses to cooperate and allow me to recall right now..it will wait until the middle of the night, so will go play games and puzzles for now.
May the remainder of this day treat you and yours well and may peace be with you always.

Good afternoon friends. I had a good day today and a lot of fun at the first of a 12 week course of sign language, being taught here. We have 4 deaf residents that I know of, one of them is always downstairs working puzzles, and we in the class all said we wanted to wanted to learn sigh language to be able to talk to Sonny. Teacher thought that Sonny must be the most popular boy in class, till she figured out we all felt awkward trying to interact with him so often when he was downstairs. One of the deaf ladies reads lips very well, and speaks well enough for us to understand, the other 2 do not spend much time in the public rooms.

Teacher is funny, showing is the difference between chocolate and chemotherapy, one has a hand palm up, other has palm down, everything else is the same, said we did not want to mix those up. another B word, with a slight difference, became 'a female dog' as teacher said. Have to be very careful of some of those words.

Back when I was in 5th grade, class mates and I learned to finger spell, the deaf alphabet signs. so we could 'talk' to each other and teacher would not know. Just in the hour and half, I found I was remembering some of them. That is going to make this much easier.

Some of the staff and some of the residents already know sign language, total of 5 I think, but said they needed a refresher. Having them here all week will be a help, if we forget something, we can ask them.

I also went out and watered flowers, found that 3 small branches of the coleus had broken off in the rain and wind. I brought those up to my plant hospital here in my window, to see if they will root. this slow steady rain we had really plumped up the water absorbing granules I put in with the impatiens that Loraine and her daughter planted in the bench seat flower containers. I had to dig those back under the soil and hope they stay there this time hehehe. It is so funny when they 'heave' up, and these tiny cubes of clear jello looking stuff come to the surface.

Time for my meds, and turn off this AC. Once the sun gets off the building, it can get too cool here quickly. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Howdy, Folks!

Broni, I'm glad to hear that things are going better!

June, what very good news! Will be thinking of you and your upcoming small procedure and a few more tests.

Heidi, it's too bead the puppies are early risers

Mama, I'm so glad you enjoyed your outing to New York! I'm sort of relieved that you didn't see The Book of Mormon. Everyone I know who saw it enjoyed it, but said they would have been uncomfortable seeing it in a cross generational group.

MIzT, good for you and the others learning to sign! It will be nice to be able to carry on conversations with the residents who are deaf.

Sorry I can't continue responding to those who have posted. I'm starting to fall asleep in the computer chair; it's time to head to bed.

Positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and for all!

Hello all.
Always something happens when I try to post. I have lost a few now and I then give up.
Windows 8 has been a challenge.

June...great news that tests showed things are OK.
Heidi..the puppies are so good not to make a mess inside even when they cannot get outside in the rain. Hope you are feeling better.
Rolanda...many are experiencing the same sore throat here. Hope you are better soon also.
Mama...enjoyed your post and great to hear you may not need the cpap machine.
Broni...glad to hear you are coping with the trials of family life. What else can we do ah!
It must be a weight off your mind to sell the dinghy and jeep, get them out of the yard even if you didn't get what you wanted.
Cyn.. the girls must have been excited to see that the PM visited Hayley's school.

I doubt if I will get back for days now, so I will wish a Happy Mothers Day for tomorrow, for all the Mums.

MizT...you sound just like me when you take snippets of plants and get the cutting growing again. I find it so rewarding.
My marigolds are blooming well but the petunias are pathetic. Only red came out from 6 plants, the others were eaten by something. Renae has become interested in flowers too, and is also enjoying the achievement of creating a garden which the girls find fascinating. They spend some time together watering, weeding and seeing plants
grow. She wants to do a vegetable patch but working 5 days a week, means time is limited. It is still quite warm here also, and you need to tend to them daily with watering.

Heidi. How long has it been raining now Heidi?

Work on our investment property that was flooded late January, is about to begin on Mon. Many places have been re-built and people are getting back into their own homes, and back to normal. Paul was very fortunate that he had Judy's unit to go to. Others have had to live in caravans,or relocate to other towns. Places in Nth Bundy which were really devastated, will probably never be rebuild.
I feel fortunate, that things will end up OK compared to some.
It has caused trauma within my family, which went back to childhood issues. It has not been an easy journey as emotions got heated, and they spilled out after the flood, with anger, resentment, and then violence.
It sounds like a soap opera..., but things were not good.
I am happy that things are on the mend now, since Paul and the boys came to dinner, without issues.

Thanks for listening and no comment needed for listening to me vent.

I value your support and trust you understand our everyday issues that we endure. Mine our not life threatening ,just issuers.

Nola. As long as you survive, things will be OK. Just remember that some people have it worse. When things go bad for me, I try to look at it that way, and be grateful that it isn't worse..... because things can always be worse.

The rain is kinda on one day, off the next, then on the following day, etc. The ground is saturated, there is a small lake in the front pasture and it doesn't dry out long enough to mow the lawn. If it keeps up, I may have to build an ark.

No rain here, but there are LOTS of clouds, some wind and damp. Weather guessers say rain tonight. Heidi, so sorry you had an entire day of rain. What do all your dogs do when it rains all day? I know they need to go out to relieve themselves in that length of time.

Julie, it will be some time and lots of practice before we can hold a conversation in sign language, but at least we can greet them politely. I found a very good online tutorial, actually, this is a full college course in signing, free for self study. I like the way it is done. This professor said with learning 250 words, you could read and understand most closed captions on TV. Why not the same concept of teaching signing. He starts out with the most used words in the Deaf Culture (deaf is capitalized when referring to Deaf Culture, or the group of people living and communicating as deaf, referring to physically deaf it is lower case d.) So he starts with how most conversations between Deaf go, who are you, where did you go to school, who taught you to sign, and why do you want to learn. A bit of overlap here with my 'in person' teacher. He has tests, I like the one where he signs, then gives 4 possible answers, Always was good at 'multiple guess' but I really do find I understand more I see signed, if slow, than I can do. Did I say all this before??

I had bought my lunch today, baked talapia, it was yummy. Knowing that I was going downstairs for my lunch, I decided to do some gardening while there. The impatiens that were planted at boundary of the garden/lawn area were looking unwell. They had not grown, very few blooms and the impatiens in the bench container planted after those are huge, blooming prolifically. Difference is the soil, new potting soil with fertilizer was put into the containers. The soil at edge of the garden is red clay and rocks. I took down 2 gallon milk jugs of Miracle Grow fertilizer mix, and started giving them a drink. Only enough to go half around the border. I had just finished and was checking out the coleus, when Nancy, Miss Garden Police shows up. In a snapish voice says, Since you are doing so much around here, why don't you take over the garden. Now the words do not sound so bad, but her voice, her body language, her attitude was just the opposite. I told her OK, if that is what you want.

I am not going to let her get the best of me hehe. AND no, I do not want to be in charge of the garden. I do believe someone phoned her perhaps even before I got down there, to let her know I was going to work in the garden. She ALWAYS shows up to find out what I am doing, every time I go out. I am not sure what to do with someone like her. The plants were not doing good, I knew what was wrong, I had the means to treat the problem, and I did it. Will do it again, in fact, will be down tomorrow to finish up fertilizing the other half. Wanna bet she will show up again?? hehehe How would you handle someone like her??

OK too long again, here is the rest.

Nola, you picked the correct word, rewarding. Today I had a bit of the Wandering Jew vine break off when I was trimming my airplane plant next to it. That snippit went into the pot, those are so easy to root no need to give them special care in a glass of water, just stick then in the dirt and get out of the way, they are gonna grow. But just as you said, it is rewarding to see something respond to your efforts.

Rolanda, sorry to hear you are not well. Hope the sore throat improves quickly. Glad you enjoyed the movie. Al loved Star Trek, and and all the copy cats of it. Chicken soup sounds good, may I drop in for a bowl? Such a saving of energy to make double and freeze half for later.

Heidi, Broni, act your age. I know it would be difficult, but give it a try heheheh

OK, time to study a bit fore bedtime, This sign language is very interesting, especially with the two teachers I have! Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Yeah, the collies go out in the pouring rain when they need to, then they dry themselves off on me or on the sheets on my bed.

The Garden Police lady, Nancy, sounds like a pain. I don't think she's gonna get any better, either. I actually feel sorry for her. She's rather pathetic and insecure..

Priest On His Deathbed..

An old Canadian priest lay dying. He sent a message for a Canada Revenue Agency(CRA) Supervisor and his lawyer to come to the hospital. When they arrived, they were ushered up to his room. As they entered the room, the priest held out his hands and motioned for them to sit on each side of the bed.

The priest grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled and stared at the ceiling. For a time, no one said anything, both the Canada Revenue Agency Supervisor and the lawyer were touched and flattered that the old man would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled because the priest had never given any indication that he particularly liked either one of them.

Finally, the Lawyer asked, 'Father, why did you ask the two of us to come here?' The old priest mustered all his strength, and then said weakly, 'Jesus died between two thieves, and that's how I'd like to go.'

Priceless
