IH is happy today. I had told him that in my opinion, Oxbow was going to finish the race in the top three, so I felt betting on him to show was a sure-fire bet. He handed me a large bet to make for him yesterday, and more than tripled his money. It was a good lesson for him. He's learning that if he listens to me, he benefits.

It's a scorcher today. I have a large pen set up for the puppies in the shade of a linden tree, and they seem happy there. They'd RATHER be loose in the house, but they can't always have their way. I need to run to Tractor Supply to pick up a 740 gallon water tank, but I'm hearing thunder rumbling in the distance and don't want to have the puppies stuck outside in a storm. So I'm cooling off for a little, then cleaning out their night pen. Then I'll move them back inside before leaving. OR... I might hold off the trip to get the water tank until Tuesday. I can't get it tomorrow 'cause I'm spending tomorrow in the dentist's chair. Major work on 2 teeth, and a possible root canal on one.

I'm also a little reluctant to be handling a 740 gal. steel water tank in a thunderstorm. Maybe I have too vivid an imagination, but I've seen lightning bolts hit metal objects before.
I think I've convinced myself to stay home and fix the flat tire on my zero-turn lawn mower. I also have to bury that calf who had pneumonia. We lost him yesterday. I want everyone to notice that all these things are MY responsibility, not my idiot husband's.

Hi all.
Heidi, glad you had a back-up bet and had a good day. Love the puppy pictures. Makes me want to run away and come up and play with the puppies. Not happening anytime soon. Don't have the funds for a vacation.

Wet day here. This is our Victoria Day long weekend, the time to plant flowers, etc. Not gonna happen this weekend. Tomorrow hubby goes to spend the night at his dad's place, so I am preparing food for them. I can smell my lilacs from the kitchen, but they will soon be done. Some are starting to turn brown now. I love lilacs.

I have both natural lilacs and hybrid lilacs. The hybrids bloom over a month before the natural ones do. My hybrids have been done blooming for several weeks, and the natural lilacs are just starting to bloom now.

Quiet day onsite, all is good in my neck of the woods, except have run out of gas for the heater and not going back out. Have I ever told you I do not like the cold?

Another up and down kind of night. It is waaaay too early in AM to get up. Wish I could get my days and nights back on track again.

Did laundry today, always a chore. When I went back to sun room after putting all clothes into dryer, I found a man asleep in one of the 2 comfy chairs. My getting into other chair roused him, and he proceeded to talk for 30 minutes. His wife was visiting a friend, he got bored, went for a walk and instead fell asleep/ He went to same high school one semester that I did, my last. We had an interesting chat about how Southside Birmingham had changed over the years, and was hopefully making yet another comeback. Talked about Do Dah Day, a parade and festival for dogs and other pets to raise money for the humane society. He was against it, because so many gay couples always walked the parade with their pets, often 'dressed' alike, pet and human. It is a fun thing, they had about 8 bands playing at 3 different parks. I really wanted to go, but more walking involved than I can do. Back when we first started trying to get my power chair, I said OH GOOD, I can go this year, never imagining it would take so long. Last I heard, the paperwork is with the insurance co, but they have reduced staff, no telling how long their review will take. I think they hope I just die, and then I will not need it

Need to get back to bed, need a bit more sleep cause tomorrow is sign language class again. I did not remember the signs she went over at end of last class, and too many of them to look them up online, so could not do my assignment. But I did a lot of finger spelling practice, other half of assignment, and would do really well if I could just remember F sign!!

Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till later.

I'll comment later on the few posts I just read. I need to feed puppies, do a couple of other jobs, then leave for the dentist's in 45 minutes.

My mouth is sore. It turned out to be more complicated than the dentist figured, because gum tissue had grown into all of the cracks and fractures in the tooth. A lot of sensitive gum tissue had to be cut away with a laser. Then we had to replace the post and base of the tooth, and make a mold for the replacement crown. I had broken the previous one into many pieces and very little was salvageable. I have the feeling that I'll need to get an implant within 10 years.

Seems ages since I posted. Heidi, you do have lots of problems with your teeth. I do hope this one can be fixed soon without too much pain.
Tami, hope you Dad is soon much better. Love to your Mum as she copes with your father's ill health.
Cyn, sorry about your uncle. It is always hard to say goodbye. Suzi, hope you appointment went well yesterday.
MizT, pleased you are having so much enjoyment with planting flowers for all to enjoy. Learning sign will certainly keep your brain active. Hope you get your motor soonest.
Theresa, I love lilacs. Had them growing when we lived in Melbourne but they do not like Sydney humidity and tend to die.

I have been pretty busy. last week we had a lot on at the bowling club. We are getting our new back and side fences put in at the moment so spent a lot of time and muscles clearing the garden away from the fences. I was rather sore and stiff when we had finished. Still a lot of rubbish over the lawn , to be cleared away. Regular bowls again today.
I had Laura over the weekend and Saturday we went into town by train and visited the Australian Museum.
I went to the movies with a friend yesterday and saw 'Song for Marion'. Enjoyed it but with lots of tears.
I also had an ultra sound last week and the polyp that had been tested seems to have shrunk or disappeared. At least I know that 'C' is not the issue.
I have been thinking of you all. Sending HUGS.

One of the dental assistants gave me a supply of dental cement to re-attatch any more teeth that fall off. They know that I know how to mix and apply it. But this way, U can deal with emergencies easier on weekends.

Like Suzy, the computer room is cold so I am reluctant to come in here. 13 deg at the moment and I am such a sook when it comes to winter.
Much nicer to curl up on the lounge with a blanket.
Heidi...those puppies are adorable. Bear would be my choice and the long hair ones would be too much work for me.
Tami...hope Dad is doing well now.
Cyn...sorry about Jimmy.
MizT...how is your head now? I still need to have a look at the link as it sounds very interesting.

I cant stand this cold room any longer.
Take care everyone.

Yes, Nola, I'm cold here too. It was 11C when I got up earlier. Need to get Col to organise the firewood. The cold has hit us quickly this year. Although it's always cold by Hayley's birthday, which is today. Another teenager in the family, and by the end of 2014 we will have 4 of them - oh, joy!
I have been having a bit of a problem since last Thursday morning. When I sat up in bed to get up that morning, my head started spinning like my brain was rolling over. Then the vertigo was joined by extreme nausea. Yechh! It's a long story so I won't go into detail, but it's not life-threatening, it is diminishing daily, and usually after a few hours in the morning I am fine - until the next morning. Not pleasant though - and is 'often part of the ageing process'. It's true when they say that getting old is not for sissies!

Nola.... I prefer the smooth puppies, too. I love the look, and I love the lack of brushing.
Ruby has decided that she's staying here. She's already bonded with me and won't let anybody else touch her. Given a choice, she'd stay right at my side like her mother does.

Watching the news from Oklahoma ... so sad.

Someone in the neighbourhood (very close to us) is setting off firecrackers and fireworks. Wish they would stop because it's getting very close to my bedtime. It is also upsetting the cats.

Fireworks are no fun, Theresa. I hope they have finished by time you go to bed.

ROLANDA, you need a heater, NOW. That sounds down right cold. Hope you have plenty of really warm clothes and can put them ALL on hehehe.

Nola, my head is good, woke the morning after the eyesigns with a bruised brain feel, but that soon got better.

Cyn, hope the vertigo eases up, not a fun thing to wake to every day.

JUNE, so glad for your good news about polyp, best kind of news there is, it is gone.

OUCH HEIDI, sounds painful. Hope your mouth recovers soon.

Terrible news out of Oklahoma City Area, Moore. another wedge tornado on the ground for about 45 minutes, and it hit a school. Fifty one persons confirmed dead, Medical Examiner says 20 of those are children, and she has received phone calls of other victims who have not been brought in. the numbers will go up. So sad. I have a quilting buddy in Oklahoma City, but I think she is west, storm was south. I do hope she is OK.

Found out today I have a UTI, probably had it for several days. Pain from fibro flare was greater than pain from UTI, and I did not notice it till spasms today. I have antibiotics and ntispasmodic drugs now. Just what I need, more meds to take, but will take, meds are lesser of two evils now.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

What is a UTI, MizT?

Tomorrow afternoon I have a Vet appointment for my mare Sere. It's to find out why she lost her foal, and to try to fix whatever is wrong so I can breed her again. I start feeling sorry for myself that so many things go wrong (my dental bills alone have reached $10,000.00 in 2013 alone, and growing), then I think of the people in Oklahoma City, and the families in Connecticut that lost their children, and so many others facing devastation, and I no longer feel sorry for myself.

OK... looked it up. Those aren't fun. At least they're curable.

Everybody has been fed and watered, so I'm off to bed.

Good luck staying warm, Rolanda. That's too cold to be without heat. Do you at least have an electric blanket for the night, or will you need to layer?

Hi, Everyone! Popping in for a quick visit!

Suzy, thank goodness you will finally be able to see and be seen by the neurologist! I hope that goes well!

Heidi, what a pleasant surprise that IH actually listened to you - and at a time when it was beneficial to do so! So sorry you lost the calf that had pneumonia! Would be nice if IH could find a way to actually help with all of the work to be done! I'm glad you decided to postpone picking up the water tank

Tami, I hope your Dad is improving! I'm keeping him and your Mom and the rest of your family in my prayers. How many days until the end of school?

Theresa, I also love lilacs! They finally made a good showing this year. One day last week it was warm enough to have the window open when I was practicing. There was enough of a breeze to waft the scent up to me! Truly delightful!

Broni, so sorry your heater ran out of fuel.Being too cold is an energy -sapper.

MizT, I certainly wish the powered chair will soon find its way to you!

Heidi, I hope your teeth will soon be improved.

I will post this, and read and post more tomorrow. I can't keep my eyes open. Thinking of all of you and sending lots and lots of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}, and for everyone!

Morning friends, I am here typing but in background hearing the continuing coverage from Moore OK. They revised the number dead, still tragic but so much better. I kept seeing reports that first responders were having trouble finding people who call for help, because street signs were gone, landmarks were gone, nothing looked the same. UH, does Moore not have GPS? Or wwas it wiped out, do they rely on a tower, many of which are missing now? And, Oklahoma today has rain, thunderstorms.

Missed my sign language class yesterday, was here waiting for phone call from doc office. I may never catch up with the class now.

Perfect. Just perfect. The sky suddenly opened up with a violent thunderstorm. My truck windows were open, and the puppies were locked outside in their pen. I'm now soaking wet, the puppies are wet and my truck seat is wet. I have to have Sere in the trailer within half an hour, and I have yet to catch her. And I don't enjoy doing that in a thunderstorm. The radar shows that the worst of it should pass in less than half an hour, but that's cutting it close. And I've never tried to load Sere before, so I don't know how hard it will be. I just want to go back to bed.

There is a reason that I call this place Surreal Farm. Every horse expert who has seen Sere recently has told me that she's not pregnant. I didn't think she looked pregnant. The Vet just checked her. She IS pregnant!!!! There's a nice, active foal inside her.
