Little bit of good news for a change, Poss is on his way home although he thinks it won't be long now for his mum.
Love and hugs to all of you, seems like everyone needs them at the moment.

Silly Me, almost had to ask whatever is wom the lawn hehehe. So glad i figured it out fore I showed my ignorance. Hope everything is all clean and tidy now, Broni and Poss has a safe trip home.

YEAH, SUZY, you have the right to be proud momma today. Congrats to Allie. Hope her friends are not upset she got chosen to sing without them.

Heidi, so sorry you have to pick off the veggies on your pizza. Now you could add some meat to it fore baking to make it more to your liking??

Theresa, I did not see your post about your in-laws would not allow others in their house. That is too bad. Perhaps you will just have to leave them to their own devices till something forces their hands.

Think there were other posts I wished to comment on, but if so, they were on the previous page and going back will erase this, just like turning the page to here erased those comments from my tiny little brain

Tomorrow we go to doc office, I am not sure if we will be there all day or not. Depends if they decide to start his chemo and radiation tomorrow.

Hugs to all and hope to see you tomorrow.

Reading on page 22:

Thanks so much for the prayers and thoughts for my friends grandbaby twins! They're a week old today. The family has a blog with daily "updates" of sorts, but aren't focusing on the less than wonderful aspects. Reports tend to confirm that they're little fighters, though. The family has been calling the girl "Princess," but nurses today suggested that "Warrior Princess" was a better description. They are playing music for each of the babies so they hear something other than the ventilator.

Hello everyone.
Suzy, Congratulations to Alie. Woo Hoo!!!
Theresa. Hmm, what can I say that I haven't already said about elderley relatives not wanting to leave their homes for their own good.
I just don't understand what is so horrible about living in a retirement village. You can start independently and move up to assisted living long before you need to transition to full nursing care. It doesn't make sense not to take advantage of what is being offered - living near lots of people of your age group.
I have full intentions of moving into a retirement village before hubby and I are too old to enjoy the lifestyle. Having watched my MIL struggle with living on her own and now watching my own mother do the same thing, I'm just not prepared to do that to my sons. Possibly, I don't have that same feeling about my house that my parents/in-laws have. A house is a house but home is where ever my husband/family is - be that a holiday house, tent etc.
Broni, safe travels for Poss.

Lovely news about the twins, Julie. Babies can be such little fighters.

Heidi, they are lovely parrots but I can't say that I've ever seen any around.
I'm glad you told us that it was basketball you were talking about. I had no idea and was going to ask.

You and me both Victoria !!
Watching those that you love, struggle to be 'Independent' and not move into a care facility is hard
but.. you cant tell them anything, they do not listen, they are stubborn..
until they turn around and say I can't do this any more there is not much you can do..

Gail must be worn out from all the motor racing. I saw a bit on the tv but it's not my thing.

Hubby and I went out for our usual coffee on Thursday and bought a tv. It wasn't planned but we were talking about a new one. There were good deals to be had and 12 months interest free sealed the deal. It's just a shame we can't get SBS now - hubby's working on that. Gosh there's a lot of rubbish on the other channels though. I still haven't found anything worth watching on channel 10.

Meanwhile, you listen with one ear, to all the woe is me... no one visits ( not true), I do not have food in the house (not completely true), I am home all by myself ( her choice), I go nowhere (not true), I this, I that and I the other ....
Of course I speak about my mum.
She does have home help for 2 hours a week... she could have 6 hours of home help a week, they could take her shopping, they could take her to get prescriptions which she has run out off, they could do this, that and the other..
but NO we do not want that, that costs $$, much better for son to this, daughter to do that, grandchild to do the other etc ...

Okay I am off my Soap Box !!

So now we know that IH is the veggie eater in that household and Suzy is the veggie eater in hers! I know hubby and I don't eat as many as we should, but aren't big meat-eaters, either!

Suzy, so glad Ebob texted you about the sale! Sounds amazing! You did yourself proud, Girl! If I followed you correctly, you got about 11 items for around $40! Well done!

Theresa, hope you were able to have a nana nap today. If not, sure hoping that tonight will be the night of a great sleep!

Ah, Suzy, the joys of small-town living! Don't you just wonder how stories like that get started?

Overcast, windy and drizzly looking outside at the moment. Autumn is definitely on it's way in Qld. The weekend was the most beautiful weather - sunny days and cooler nights.
It should rain next week though as I'm off to the beach for the week.

Reading on page 23 now:

Excellent TOPP, Theresa! Extremely well done, especially considering how little sleep you've had the last few days!

Theresa, I'm so sorry to hear about the difficulties with your hubby's parents! It certainly seems that there is little that can be done, other than making offers of help and documenting what is done and what is offered. When my MIL was in assisted living, she and caregivers agreed that she only needed 1 shower a week. She didn't have a tub. What we tried to remember was that she really wasn't doing anything strenuous to work up a sweat. Fortunately, her self-care was quite good for her age and advanced macular degeneration. I agree that our older family members can get chilled so easily, and hopefully they are doing a "sponge bath" type of cleansing. If they are having difficulty dressing and undressing, they may be sleeping in their clothes. They may be having difficulty doing laundry now. Maybe your SisIL can offer to do laundry every week or every other week when she comes in to do their housework. As long as they are in their own home and trying to be independent, there probably isn't much that you can do, so, for now, let it go and concentrate on what you can do to help your D and her family. I don't know if it's much help, but we understand the difficulties you and your hubby are and will be facing with them. You have our support!

Theresa, so sorry to hear that your sewing machine died. Wow, when it rains, it pours. It's time for a little sunshine and happiness to come into your life. Remember to think positive thoughts! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Heidi, thinking of you, Gil's assistant Pam and her brother Greg! Wow, no wonder you don't like that other hospital - sent home the day after a 6-way bypass! Is there any chance he would improve if he were transferred to the better hospital? Positive thoughts, prayers and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all involved!

Positive thought and prayers to the people of Japan! I would think they really don't need anymore adversity!

Heidi, so sorry it was a Supreme and not a Meat Lover's pizza in the freezer! I'm guessing what's going to be put on the shopping list as a replacement.

Suzy, very impressive for Alie! Well done! How nice that her talents are being recognized! Also, I've been thinking that it was a positive move that Ebob notified you of the sale! Have you had a chance to let her know how beneficial her information was?

Congrats to Suzy and Alie! Great TOPP, Heidi!

Broni, I'm glad Poss will be home - at least for a bit! Hoping for safe travels for him! How is he holding up through all of the commuting back and forth? I hope he's still working on his exercises! (I have to admit being a bit confused as well when you mentioned that you wom the lawn! Yep, a nice shower and shampoo would have been much better AFTER that!

Thanks for asking, Broni! Things have slowed down a bit, mostly because of the cold/cough that is lingering, so no 2-hour a day trips to the pool/health club. It's slowly getting better, but we really need to get back to work on income tax preparations!

MizT, I hope all goes well at the doc tomorrow for both you and Al! If it ends up being a long day, I hope you will have something to do to help fill the time!

Vicki, I think most of our generation would react as you do - far better to get into retirement living when you can at least enjoy it a bit, not wait until assisted living or even nursing care are required. Perhaps it's as you said, we don't think of our house as our home. Our home is where our family/loved ones are. Things aren't the most important.

Rolanda, thinking of you as you continue to deal with your Mum's requirements! Of course, why would anyone pay someone to do something that one's relatives can do? I know with my MIL we finally just had to tell her NO, we can't do that. She insisted in choosing an assisted living facility that was an hour away, then would call and say she had made a doctor appointment in a half hour. "Can't help with that. It takes an hour to get to you, then another 20 minutes to get from you to the doctor. Someone who lives closer will need to take you, or you'll need to pay for a taxi, or you'll need to change the appointment? It isn't easy, and we understand and support you! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Vicki, I hope you and your hubby enjoy the new television! How nice that you found it for a good price!

Rolanda, I hope autumn will soon be on its way!

Vicki, I hope you have wonderful weather next week for the beach!

Nearly 1:30 here, and I best head to bed. Sending positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and for Everyone! Good Night!

Woohoo, Suzy. You have earned your proud mama moment!!!

Can't sleep, have been trying off and on since 10:00 PM (it's now 3:00 AM). I am so doomed today with no chance for a nap. Positive thought? I'm positive I will be a touch cranky today. Teehee.

Retirement living here is very expensive. My mom was in a retirement home and it cost close to a thousand dollars a month more than she was getting with her pensions.

Bugger Theresa, here there are special rates if you are on a pension - unless you own a house or something...then they want you to sell that and pay through the nose, doesn't pay to get ahead.

Yes Suzy, life can be brutal. We went through this with my mom in the late 90's and it wasn't a pleasant time. Even the nursing home that she moved into before her death cost more than her pension. The golden years ... really???

Man driving down road.
Woman driving up same road.
They pass each other.
Woman yells out window, PIG !
Man yells out window, BYTCH !
Man rounds next curve.
Man crashes into a HUGE PIG in middle of road and dies.
