Arguing with a fool is like teaching a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Al went home last night. He beat pneumonia again. Thankfully, he's a tough ol' bird.

Hello all ... just back to my place for some lunch. I have been helping the grandies clean their room, but there's still a long way to go. I'll bring them to my place later so their mom can have a nap.

March Break is not a good thing when there is little you can do with the grandies because you have to stay close to their mom to help her. Their other grandma is picking them up tomorrow and doing some fun stuff with them. Catch you all another time - my soup is ready.

Brenda, remember, If you ( Gail) build it, they will come. Word would get around that she had good organic veg for sale!

Heidi, hope you did not get as much rain as we did. At least we did not have flooding again. Boy that road is in bad shape, gravel is washed away and now a big "dip" where the water dug it out a bit. Remember, this is a private road, the government refuses to take it over, so we have to depend on the land owner who sold or rented lots (blocks) to maintain it. I saw the owner's hubby here pulling an empty trailer, checking on some rental property. I hope that means he brought the tractor with box blade to smoothe the road again.

OH, I got up early morning for bathroom break, and found Scooter lying on the arm of the recliner with AL. Learned that lesson form Screech? she would sneak up quitely after he went to sleep ( he does sleep in his recliner, has for years) when he would not guide her gently back off his lap. AND Scooter is not right with me now, she has found a spot in the middle of the walkway where she can see both of us, and she is happy. Daddy is home, so he will protect me

Theresa, enjoy your soup! What kind was it?

Busy morning here with him home, getting back into the swing of things. He just looks so much better than he did, I am proud of him. Yes a tough and determined old f@rt!

Just a reminder, all his problems are chemo and radiation caused, not cancer caused, other than cancer led him to treatment. all of this is normal, they have seen it all before and most of the time fixable.

A Nurse he had who had been an oncology nurse a long time said he is looking very good for having 24 radiation treatments already. Most patients who under go that much are very emaciated, and bedridden, or wheel chair bound. My stubborn hubby who was severly dehydrated, with low blood count, very low blood pressure, low potassium, and pneumonia. Any of them will make you tired and weak, but my guy got up and
walked out to the drive to the ambulance! Just cause we were having to move autos around so they could get all the way down the drive. He was impatient and aggravated and tapped into some reserve he has, and off he went!!!

A good sign, Al has found some of his fav music on You tube and is listening to that. I have not seen him listening to HIS music for a long time. Oldies but goodies playing now. AND he is sitting up in his recliner, not lying back, that is an improvement yeah!!

MizT, glad Al is home - less running around for you at least. It was just packaged chicken noodle soup I had. Just came home for a coffee and to get away for a break. I probably still have another 2 hours of work on the girls' rooms. Then come home and fix supper for hubby (he's not working tonight), then go back next door and fix supper for them. I miss having a nap, but the girls have been very well behaved.

Tami, at least one of us is enjoying March Break.

Theresa, having the beastie boys 24/7 is not always enjoyable. They are typical brothers and will fight over every little thing.

Just popping in to see how everyone is doing. TTT: Good luck keeping what little sanity you have with the boys.
Nice day here, 63 degrees, and the windows are open.
MizT: Glad to hear Al is improving.

MizT, a good news morning. Al has Scooter keeping him company and easing the ache of losing Screech a little, he's walking when he shouldn't be able to, over his pneumonia again (I think his resilience is due to your hard work with his meds and feeding tube!)

Theresa, it's a shame you can't do fun stuff with the grandies, but it will happen again. They must hate you for making them clean their room, but they will love it when it's done...

I put that calf down. I decided not to do all that work turning him into dog food. There just wasn't enough meat on him to make it worthwhile.

Grandies didn't come over. They watched a movie with their mom instead.

The youngest grandie's room is clean, but the other one isn't finished yet. I had to come home and start hubby's supper. I am exhausted and very sore. SonIL will be home around 7:00 PM and I think it will be an early night for me.

Tami, Dana was like that. At 7 she could eat an adult size serving of ribs. At 18 she ate hardly anything at meal times, but her room was filled with junk food packages - enough for a dozen people!

Comment about the bullying video: Alie told me yesterday that there is a boy at school who keeps touching the girls, not indecently, but constantly. He came up behind her once and tried it - she elbowed him in the stomach - not only does he not touch her, but if she looks at him while he is touching other people he looks scared and stops.

Suzy, you can tell Alie that I am proud of her. I am glad she stood up to the bully. I saw a commercial for X-Factor here. I think the age here is 12 years old. That is too young.

Hi all!
I was listening to the radio this morning and the conversation this week has been about bullying. One father rang in about his children (17yo son and 15 yo daughter) who had been reported as bullying a 13yo. He caught them in the act of punching the 13yo. Took the young boy home and took his 2 to the police station and had them charged with assault. They had broken the young boys nose and jaw.
He is also selling the daughters horse and son's car as additional punishment.
Good on him - apparently his wife supports his actions 100%.
I think that dinners at their place might be a bit frosty for some time to come.

A friend of mine is having her head shaved at midday today to raise funds for lukaemia - Shave for a cure. She set out to raise $500 but has already passed that.
Good on her! I've asked to see before, during and after photos. I wonder what her partner thinks.

Hugs to Theresa, I know first hand what a caregiver goes through and you are caring for more people than I am! Any way you could cook one meal and it be for your hubby and your daughter's family both? Even if seperate foods are desired, could you cook both at same time in one kitchen? I would cook 2 meals here for planned overs for us, and it took only shortly more time than cooking one. I just want so much to be able to help you lighten your load.

Heidi, think you made a good decision about Stuborn. It is always hard to put down an animal, but you have spent enough time, energy and resources you could use to greater advantage elsewhere. Perhaps now your back and foot can improve some, hope so. Do you think Moma Cow knew there was something wrong with stuborn and would not waste her resources on a calf that would not survive? I have seem dogs do this.

I phoned doc today about my back, pain running down leg and I am stumbling cause i am not picking up right leg correctly when I walk, it is time to do something. I had hoped to wait till after Al finished his treatments, but time to do it. I phoned my doc but he is on vacation this week, spring break and his son is out of school. I am sure they took a trip somewhere, cause there are HUGE photos of him and his son doing all manner of interesting things hanging in treatment rooms. Anyhow, they had the phone triage nurse phone me, and short story is, tomorrow the nurse who schedules the epidural blocks will be in and get me scheduled to have this done. No seeing doc, no X rays and MRI this time, Just go and get it done, YEAH! I will be put to sleep and the block will be done under X ray to ensure placement of needle, other than that, it is very much like Heidi's epidurals.

My sister has volunteered to come down and take me, I must have a driver as I will be put to sleep. also must have a responsible adult here for 24 hours after. Well, Roger said he would come stay with AL while I was gone and stay the night, so he will be here to check on me. So it can be done fore Al gets finished with therapy After the 24 hours I hope to feel lots better, it worked well before. Wish me luck.

I lost a long post earlier...

Tami, I think 14 is too young too. If Alie does go I hope it's only to the audition.

Good on the father Vicki! Though I suspect his kids will just do a Dana.

And good on your friend! I have a friend who did that a few years ago. For months while her hair grew back people were asking her about her 'cancer'. She was able to tell them all about the cause.

MizT... My epidurals are done under x-ray too, to ensure correct placement of needle. But I am very much awake. Otherwise, yours sound just like mine.
I'm SO glad that nurse didn't make you wait for the epidural. Those things work like magic. GOOD LUCK!!!
